Dont worry Dove the horns will be competing for district in two years.
Well, of course.  But only because that will be HJ's 6th annual rebuilding year.  ;)

I hear ya "Fan" but my youngest son competes against this HF team and has not fared too well.  Obviously I hope this changes but it would not surprise me for HF to win district in the next three or four years.
You forget one thing.  7th & 8th (and AAU) are all about talent of the players.  Varsity ball is talent AND coaching.

Oh I know, but it seems to me that HF has kids playing AAU where HJ does not.  I know that certainly does not lead to school success but these kids sure seem to know how to play the game.

FanintheStands i have to give it to you..your statement "Varsity ball is talent AND coaching" may be the best statement i've seen on this board in a long time!  I won't even ask if you're referring to any one team in particular.  :-X

MOST Varsity ball is about talent and coaching. I'd even say 99%. You will see teams out there who just have talent and are not well coached.  not all AAU coaches are daddy ball non coaching men. Some have played NBA, Euro League, College ball and are there to improve the whole athlete, books, brains, and physical ability, most are part time social workers.  They teach fundamentals and the game.

Most of this board is not AAU proud, which I get. To each his own.  But not all AAU teams/coaches are a bad thing. Omar Sneed and Team Sneed are doing a good thing in the Beaumont area, Ken Lofton and PA Heat are doing it for Port Arthur. There are other players from SE Texas that play on Houston area teams that are getting well coached, and these kids are helping their teams.  There are some AAU teams that are absolutely not well coached, and just thrown together by someones dad. These teams are usually dismantled by our local AAU and Houston teams.  If you tried AAU and it didnt work for you, there are plentyof other teams to choose from.  If your kid has the ability and desire for it, one way to get him better is find him a summer AAU league to play on. Some are sponsored, some you have to fundraise for the fees.

Um,hmmm.... seems to me bullet 23, that the only logical way to regain your strength is to stop reading about HJ.

if this is directed at me, then you clearly missed the sarcasm in my post.  i'm an HJ alum and huge fan.  i was just rubbing it in a little to all of the naysayers who've been talking all year about how "down" HJ was going to be this year, and yet they still win game after game.
Surely there is a team who can step up and keep these people quiet for about 4 years. :D

I think the 2012 State Champs are just the perfect for that job if they can manage to not be too busy lifting.

I may have not been in the loop but i have not heard anyone say HJ would not be good or they would be down, if that was the case then why would they get voted by the coaches as a top 10 team in the state?
I may have not heard them say it.
I'm just jealous! They win too much. ;D
HF lost two key players who transferred to other school districts. I had projected these two to be a major step in that direction. And Westbury Christian High have thrown major roadblocks in the mix and also ..... :-X :-X
