comeonman Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Are there alot of schools out there that open the gym and have the kids come up and "shoot" on Sundays? Is this not a form of practice? Is that legal by UIL rules?
Guest speechless Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 It is legal to have open gym on Sundays but, it is on the school and the coach to prove that it is not organized practice if it gets turned in to the UIL>
comeonman Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 wouldn't that be like having your QB and receivers come up and throw routes on Sunday on the field? or lift weights in the weightroom? The school should be off limits on Sundays - If that is going to take place then go to a church or some place that has a gym - not at the school. JMO.
Guest speechless Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 as long as it is not mandated by a coach and open to every student in the school then it is legal like i said the burden of proof falls on the school and the coach
east texas bb Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 It is within UIL rules as long as the coach is not instructing, but during the season I would think Sundays would be a day you would want to take off. During the offseason, I can see opening the gym on Sunday and playing, but it needs to be at a time where athletes can get family and church time in as well. JMO
mfd814 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 play AAU and you can get in the gyms on Sundays
