18-3a Kirbyville vs Central

Not much of a game. Central led from start to finish and won easily. Score was 79 to 43 Central with about 1 minute left.

Anyone catch the Diboll at Center game?

First district win for Central in two years...they play mostly freshmen and sophmores...will be tough in years to come. All I have seen is the score on [email protected] Center....I really figured Diboll would win this one...

Agree that things are looking up for Central...Kirbyville started 3 sophs...looked like a JV game out there.

Center won, but Diboll palyed them tough. I think the score w as 61 - 68 @ Center; Diboll is much improved.

Yes. Sadly, that is all that is emphasized at Kirbyville.

Central may be 1-3 in district but they have played everyone close.  They will beat some teams at Central and shake the district up IMO.

Yes. Sadly, that is all that is emphasized at Kirbyville.
[/quote]I'm surpised at this.  They hired Brewster as Assistant Superintendent (?) recently.  He was the basketball coach at Buna, when they had a great rivalry with Kountze and he coached at Chapel Hill, where he took 1 or 2 teams to the State Tournament.

And they have that incredible gym!  You would think that the focus would change at Kirbyville.

No look, you know they are.  If the AD is a football coach and they have UOS then all of their cards are on football.  It was that way in Huntington for 20 years or more until they finally figured out we are not going to win in football.

[/quote]All the seniors who play basketball for years are sitting this year out ... Kirbyville has one senior starter (good shooter), one senior reserve, on junior starter, rest is sophomores

I can promise they are not encouraged not to play.  They just dont.  The two years prior to this year going to State Champ game in football has not helped.  The season dont start until district play and by the time you get the bugs worked out your 0-3 or 04 in district.  Very discouraging.
