KFDM COOP Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Malkin first in 89 years to score in first 6 NHL gamesAssociated Press LOS ANGELES -- Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin became the first NHL player in 89 years to score goals in his first six games, beating Los Angeles goalie Dan Cloutier with a wrist shot 8:29 into the first period Wednesday night. The 20-year-old Russian has a ways to go before matching the mark of 14 consecutive games with a goal, which Joe Malone did at the start of his career in 1917-18, the NHL's inaugural season. That same season, Cy Denneny (12) and Newsy Lalonde (8) also put together significant streaks. Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press
