They would be better suited with that awesome freshman class at Silsbee. ;)

FYI, last Friday:

Have not said the kid was not good, as a fresh I think he did good job.  The original post was that HF should be pushing al up the floor and I still hold that with 3 kids 6"5 your strength is a half court set no a small guard rushing up the floor with no one there.  He did make some good passes but again, he needs the bigs in order to make his game work.  Not sure why if just voicing opinion it has to get jumped on like I am breaking down the kid, you are obviously closer to program, just don't understand why you all continue to jump on way program is ran.  Once OF got HF into foul trouble coach had to do what he had to do to give best chance to win.  As for aau, what would you like to discuss?  Realize the exposure element and agree you have to play in Houston with the Primetime's, MAYB, etc if you are going to be seen as no one is coming to the Triangle to watch basketball.  The game has definitely evolved with aau and in a good and bad way as most coaches will agree.  Great for for the kid not as much for the coach as he has to fix alot of the bad that goes along with aau.
My last debate on AAU. I am just debating the comment "I saw aau". Just wanted you to explain what the PG  did that made you "see aau". When you see aau...what does that mean? Aggressiveness, agility, quick crossovers, hard razor-like passes? In larger Metro areas...the game is FAST. My younger son was watching  Galveston Balls varsity game and he too spoke about how FAST the game was. That was the debate-that you "saw aau".  Also, AAU is not the only place where bad habits are learned. I see it all the time in HS basketball, especially in small districts...heck its prevalent in 4a and 5a. Coaches just don't have the knowledge or the time to "Teach". So, now parents have to spend money for knowledgeable trainers to "teach" the intricate details of basketball, if you are not blessed with a knowledgeable dad or school coach. I am done with the issue....good debate though.

But, we were talking about the 2013/14 class (current freshman), not the current 8th grade class. ;)

Didn't some great philosopher say "The future is now"?

Actually, HF should run the ball. Here is my reasoning: #1-The bigs! HF can control the defensive boards with smart play and make the quick outlet pass to the guard and get it going. The bigs are athletic enough to run the lanes and get some easier looks at the basket.  If the fast break is not there, then pull the ball out and run your sets. I'd work my bigs inside until they are "dog-tired' in the paint. Thats really your best chance on offense. Even with this strategy, the bigs are going to miss some shots in the paint.  I don't think HF have the consistent shooters to try and play a half court game and win with outside shooting. , but getting those 2nd opps after the missed shots/blocking out will keep them in the game.

The bigs are definitely the key but the subbing is an issue too. You gotta play your best athletic players and the role players are coming in too soon and losing point spreads. HF doesn't have the pure athletic talent to keep fighting to regain leads lost because of poor subbing. At most, there should be about nine players getting most of the minutes on that team. No coach who wants to win should be subbing like they are playing in Little Dribblers.

HF needs to dominate on the defensive rebounding. Reaction time is too slow in snatching rebounds. That team is too  big to let so many defensive rebounds go up for second opportunity shots for the other team.

The pg should be setting the tempo of the game and get his teammates in the best position to utilize their strengths and not the weaknesses of the team.

Dove, it's hard for me to tell if you are serious in your ranting about
the HF near future basketball fortunes of if you are just blowing smoke.  But if you are serious you are setting yourself up for one gigantic let-down.
No let down for Dove.  Once he convinces the AD that basketball players should lift twice on game days, there will be no stopping the Longhorns
