AggiesAreWe
Blue, you know I have never been impressed with Roc and his x's and o's from the beginning. His "in-game" decision making is terrible, always has.

geezer
I am not sure that it's the x & o issue as much as it is teaching the team how to play under control. Two games straight with more than twent turnovers and many bad choices for shots. Just my opinion but rarely should a three pointer be from no pass or the first pass. Usually teams and players shoot their best three point percentage on shots that are received from passes out of the paint.
bigred360
Well, I took me awhile to see the coaching staff for what they are and it doesn't look good. Coach Tidwell and Dr. Simmons will have to make a difficult decision and let Coach Roc and his staff go. I hate it, people losing their jobs but Coach Roc may go to a place that can pay him more than he is making here. This staff just hasn't done the job and people are going to stop going to games if they already haven't. AggiesAreWe
I agree, Dale. I am a season ticket holder and will go to games the rest of the season. But I will certainly think twice about being a season ticket holder for next season if things do not change. We still have some season left, things could get better, we'll see.I just do not see Roc taking this program to where we want it to go.
coachacola
Roc is not a defensive coach and never will. Kasper at SFA knows how to teach defense so they always have solid teams. But even after this loss Lamar should make the SLC tourney, and the SLC is weak so anything can happen.I'm afraid this team will get hot at the end of season and sneak into the NCAA tourney as a 16 seed and promptly get blown out. But with most of the team back for next year, the brass will say Roc has turned the ship around and keep him for another 5 years.

I say the 4 1/2 years outweigh anything Coach Roc and the Men's team can do short of winning the SLC tournament championship.Anything else and IMO there should be a change. [/quote]With Tidwell both the women's coach and the AD plus them looking to move up to the WAC, they may not want to deal with hiring a new coach. And frankly, they've been making bad hires the last 20 years so I'm not that confident that the next hire will be any better.
AJ25
If they are moving to the WAC soon, I'm sure the new conference will bring in even better talent to LU.
bigred360
Only thing is the other teams will have better talent too.

I have come to see Roc isn't the man to take this program to where it need to be. In my opinion, being the highest paid Head Coach, best facilities in the conference, best attendance and have the support of the administration to have funding for 3 full time assistances and 1 director of basketball operations and an AD that wants Roc to success and allow him to make his own schedule. This program should be competing for conference championships every year. They should not just be happy to make the SLC tournament.I really hope Coach Tidwell and Dr. Simmons puts their personal feelings aside and does what is best for the future of the Men's basketball program. LamarTech
The points raised by bigred360 are all valid...and I agree with him. I enjoy his posts. That said, we have two SLC road wins. That's a good poker hand. Let's play "conference poker" and see if we can salvage the season. There's talent on this team. You gotta love Lamb's rebounding skills at 6'2"! As sad as the A-State game was, it doesn't count. If Roc can salvage the season (and that is a big "if")...get us to the big dance for the first time since Deane's first season, I for one would support him staying. bigred360
LT, thanks for the compliment. I agree we have talent on this team but there is also shortcomings. Lamb is a great athlete and is a rebounding machine but he is hitting just above .52 on his FT attempts and he is a college basketball player. That is terrible and has to hurt Coach Roc's rotation in the final minutes. Does he keep Lamb in the game for his athletic ability to make plays or take him out because the other teams knows who to foul. You are right, we do have two road wins in conference but UCA is 4-12 and UTA is 6-9 on the season. I agree if Coach Roc can get us to the "Big Dance" for the first time since Coach Deane's first team than I too would support him staying. Personally, I like the man. He loves Lamar, he is a Lamar alum, he and his family are from this area so I am pulling for him to be successful. I believe if he were to turn the program around he would stay awhile and not leave at the first opportunity. I hope he can salvage the season!
