Dogs1218- regarding your WOS HJ prediction

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that a Nederland Bulldog fan complains that Hardin Jefferson basketball fans are arrogant and overly confident in their team?  I mean this is the same Nederland that has a football fan base that is the envy of the area.

Not that I find Nederland Football fans arrogant, but I do find them to be rather boisterous and animated.  However, I admire that in a fan base.

Good thought.  You should admire it instead of resenting it.

Hey buddy.. listen.. I have had enough fun stirring the HJ pot and upsetting (I assume you are upset) the bright and all-knowing minds (for example SteveNash) on this forum.. You will hear no more from me until after the HJ vs Silsbee game  ;) Im too busy being jealous to comment any further and too unaccepting of the fact that HJ is and will always be great, with no down year in the playoffs ever..
I guess that should be interpreted as a refusal to answer the question(s).  I have one more that you can refuse to answer as well.  Since it was not the HJ faithful on the board that trouble you but rather HJ supporters that you have had personal conversations with, how is it that an individual from Nederland has so many inter actions ( I KNOW you wouldn't draw your conclusion on just one or two conversations with strangers) with HJ people?  Do they just walk up to you and say "Our team is great and we enjoy being arrogant and we believe our team is ALWAYS the best"?  I know an individual from Nederland who bought a new car and never made the first payment on it and it was quickly picked up by the collection agency.  Would it be intelligent of me to draw conclusions on the entire town based on that particular incident?  I think not and neither do you.  Additionally, for a man who dislikes the "assumptions" of others, I am very surprised you would "assume" that someone is upset.  I can't blame you for not liking assumptions.  There was once a gentleman on here who "made the assumption" that Silsbee would mop the floor with HJ and the "additional assumption" that WOS athleticism would beat HJ.( oddly enought, making those statements was ok but reminding him that the statements were wrong was considered a reprehensible act)  As you have suggested, it is wise not to assume too much.  It is even wiser not to put those assumptions in writing.
:D Im done chatting about this issue buddy.. I will wait for more results, then we can talk about HJ again  ;) As for now, just take a break and find something better to do with your time rather than stalk the forum for a single user..

By the way, since you love to critique others predictions, how come I never see anything from you? Never want to go bold and step up? Too afraid to be wrong for once? Wait.. The "Great" stevenash wrong? No... Never  :D :D
Nope- it's called common sense.  If you ever choose to employ it, you might like it.  As for me being wrong, I do plenty of that.  Have apologized to AAW twice in the last week for incorrect assumptions.  If you try that, you might also discover it is not as bad as you think it is.  If we get brutally honest here, you have two issues with me. 1.  You don't like the fact that I question/take issue with your reasoning and ask you why 2. because I am concious of my grammar, you are offended and  interpret that as arrogance.(aka- the Great Stevenash)  Not much I can do about either,(can't and won't change my communication methods to please you) but rest assured you will ALWAYS hear from me when I think you are unjustifiably critical of the players, parents, and coaches that I support and know far better than you.   Somehow I am fairly convinced you would do the same as would a number of others who portray themselves as paragons of virtue on this board if the tables were turned.
If my team was called out, I would only say one thing, "Lets see what happens on the court." As far as the common sense is concerned, the only common sense I should've had was whether to brave enough to step up and say something carrying a negative connotation toward THE HJ hawks and the success they will not have or have.. My judgement may be considered to have error since we are dealing with the great Hardin Jefferson after all, we all are very well educated on the past years of history concerning this topic of discussion.. And in case you were puzzled, I enjoy a daily dosage of the wonderful writings (typings to be politically correct) from you..  ;D

On a different note, I would love to inquire some info about where I was "unjustifiably critical of parents and/or coaches.. My judgement on the players has come from seeing what the past years, the ones from which HJ was successful, and making my own and unique caparison.. I ultimately concluded that HJ would not reach expectations and would not play Silsbee more than twice.. You seem to have taken offense to these statements and reacted in a way that other people on this forum see as "classless." Maybe you could read the comment and laugh or, better yet, make a small comment to disprove the person, instead of create a personal issue out of it and use those discussion points in other various other post.. Maybe if you employed that, you might like it..  ;)

I have never been this excited to get on SETXsports.com! I thank you stevenash for making this interesting, but for now, lets let the kids play the game me and you both love, and make our comments when the numbers come out.. Sound like a plan?
Great plan.  Curious, though, why you chose not to follow your own plan/ suggestion the first time.  Additionally,if you had reached your unique comparative conclusion, could it not have been better to have just said HJ wont play SIlsbee more than twice and omit the " I want HJ fans to know their team isnt very good" and"Silsbee will mop the floor with HJ" (hardly the words of a reasoned and fun loving individual)?  As for the "classless" stuff - I choose to not be real concerned what a poster or two thinks is classless and still believe there is nothing classless about reminding you in the manner that I did.

I like and respect hfmom-she is well spoken, logical, and won't accept unwarranted/undocumented comments that she feels are damaging to her and those for whom she cares and there is nothing arrogant about the manner in which she handles things.

Just want to make stevenash conscious of the fact he incorrectly spelled conscious. I'm positive he would want to be "concious" of it.

Thank you, sir.  I am most appreciative of the fact that you brought that to my attention.  I will need to be more vigilant when posting and make better efforts to read them over before posting so as not to appear to be hypocritical.  I also would like to add, just for clarification, that I am not offended by your comment and do not consider you to be arrogant for notifying me.  In the spirit of reciprocity, I would remind you that the word representing the number 20, has a y at the end of it. ;D

Great team, great Coach, often times lousy fans with very misplaced emotions. Sure they show up and cheer/ridicule the opposing team, but as far as they are concerned no one else in the state of Texas plays basketball.
You are so right.  Whatever gave the HJ fans the right to believe that they have a good team?  Whatever gave them the right to defend the team they support against ridicule from others?  Why should they believe that their team is competitive when "experts" have already informed them they have no chance?  Don't they understand that , to respond to criticism (possibly unwarranted) is inappropriate and unfair and gives the appearance that they think HJ is the only basketball program in the state?  Yes, there is no place for the misplaced emotions you so aptly described - especially when they are displayed only by HJ supporters while others display,( via non inflammatory commentary such as "I am an HJ hater" or " I will stop hating HJ if they beat Silsbee"), the purest form of  unbiased and objective commentary.  I don't know about you, but I am getting pretty tired of talking to HJ fans and hearing every one of them declare that no one else in the state of Texas plays basketball.  I think the solution to all of this is to belittle those fans and their team until they realize that their conduct/ behavior ( unlike any fans from any other teams)  will not be tolerated.  They need to learn that they don't know much about basketball and they should listen to those who do and they should never respond, in kind, to those who question them.
See this is where you are mistaken. I think HJ is a great team and I never belittled them. There have been times when I was ashamed of the fans that cheer for my alown ma mater. I believe that HJ has a game that speaks for itself and they do not fans that belittle others all the while calling it "passion". Be supportive of your team and cheer for god's sake. Just realize that on any given night you could be beat by any given team and what will your reactions be when that happens. Will you give the other team the respect that they have quite obviosuly earned or will you get on and run your head about how it was pure luck, our pg was injured, or it won't happen again. Maybe your not the type, but many of your beloved "hecklers are. Overall the message is be a passionate and supportive fan, not an obnoxious one!
When the hecklers were in their prime (2008 or so), I used to cringe when I'd hear them sing "Na, Na, Hey, Hey, Goodbye" when the game was over.  All I could think of is, "ooh, this is going to haunt us some time in the future".

I had to sit there two weeks ago and listen to the Silsbee faithful sing it with a certain gusto and all I could do was grin and bear it.

However, I disagree with your opinion that we should never say, "It won't happen again".  Anyone who believes in their team should believe that "It won't happen again" when they lose a game.

Thats a fair point, but in the reality of high school sports, understand that it will happen again. That is the reason we all love and watch the game. . .correct? And btw thank you for that example because that it exactly the situation I was trying to portray but could not muster such a perfect example.

Thats a fair point, but in the reality of high school sports, understand that it will happen again. That is the reason we all love and watch the game. . .correct? And btw thank you for that example because that it exactly the situation I was trying to portray but could not muster such a perfect example.
Well yeah, only a fool would think that it could never, ever happen.  But, you know, every one of those Jets believed that they would beat the Steelers yesterday.  Same goes for the Bears.  Its the only way that you should go into a game, or else you've already lost.

I never actually said that you shouldn't ever say "It won't happen again" Just suggesting that maybe "good game" should be the first words out of your mouth. At least in the eye of the public. You can discuss what will or won't happen next time in the locker room or at the dinner table all you want.
