**Silsbee at HJ BROADCAST/Tigers win 64-51!**

    Silsbee definetly outbenched the Hawks, I think the refs did a "ok" job, was a little miffed on the NO call for intentional that almost killed Prudhomme. They had to call it tight this place was a powder keg and could have gotten out of hand quickly. We could have used a lot more Sutherland involvement at first I thought Silsbee was keeping him nailed down but as I watched there was plenty of oppurtunity to get it to him we just missed it. I felt Prudhomme tried to do to much and it did not work out BUT as a Hawk fan I will gladly take my chances with Prudhomme trying to do to much because 8 times out of 10 it will work out well for us.
 I really enjoyed wathching Stallworth and Prudhomme on the same floor it is like watching a Div 1 game for $3.00. These 2 are truly the best around and leave it all on the floor

I would also like to add that I thought the sportsmanship of the athletes on the floor was top notch, they helped each other up off the floor, and several times gave each other the  "you ok tap" when they fouled.

Quick question for any refs, When Prudhomme was fouled hard (which should have been intentional) and could not shoot his free throws, Bosha came in and shot them. I thought they had to be shot by someone on the floor at the time of the foul.

This is Silsbee's best team in years.  If they can't win state this year it may never happen!

This is the first time since Silsbee joined HJ in 21-3A that one of the teams swept the district series. Silsbee has been 3A for 7 years now, but only in 21-3A the last 5 years. HJ and Silsbee had always split their district games until this year.

If the Tigers can win out, it will be consecutive out right district titles for Silsbee, which is a first for this district.

Interesting and also fitting. Like I said prior this is Silsbee's best team.  Hard to beat a team in the playoffs this deep.  They should win the state championship.

I think Lubbock Estacado has something to say about that. ;D

I do not know if I agree that this is Silsbee's best team, but it is one of the best. Last year's team was pretty good. This team is a different type team. Better, deeper bench, much more speed and quickness. But we do not have two '6"7 players either.

I'll hold my thoughts for later in the season about this being Silsbee's best. ;)

Silsbee has 7 seniors, 2 juniors and 3 soph. on varsity. Four of the seven seniors start. (Stallworth, Lane, T. Barrett, Harris)

You can call it the best or not but this team is the best team as far as winning a state championship because of their team speed and attacking defense.  I have not seen that agressive of a defense since the 91 hawks.

Don't expect a huge fall off next season either. Those juniors and sophomores play heavy minutes and are ready to step up.

I agree. We went from the last 2-3 years with "Juco" height, to now just one '6"4 player. Next year we will not have a player over '6"2 and only 1 starter returning (Gaines).

Silsbee should be okay next year, but nothing like the last 4 years. Tigers will be down some next year, a year away from being back on top. ;D


But enough of this next year talk!!! Still plenty of season this year.

[/quote]Guard play usually tells the tale when you get to Austin....last years team was a little shy in the guard position. Hopefully this year will be Silsbee year(if they make it).

I am not sure if this is the best Silsbee team in years, but they are very good and I have said that all year.  However.............this team will go as far as DC and Lane carry them!!!!
