Who?  LCM looses 90% of it's offense with Gonzo and Sonnier!

I think the top three are correct, but Nederland will be #4 in that mix. Not necessarily 4th, but top 4. Ozen has talent, but they always do!!! Vidor is back to being Vidor as is Lumberton (notice how quiet it has been the past few years from up north!  ::) ).  And as I stated before the Bears are loosing it's 1-2 punch! If I had to rank 'em today.

1. Livingston (Can win the district, but will struggle to win in the playoffs due to the system)
2. Central (Mitchell takes the next step)
3. PNG (New signal caller, but great weapons at his disposal and this coming Senior group won a lot coming up through the ranks)
4. Nederland (Young QB got his feet wet last year and they had a lot of Soph's step up last year...Good 2013 class means a year away from a DC)
5. Ozen (Talent alone gets 'em close)
6. LCM (Crouch gets 'em close)
7. Vidor (Mathews gets 'em close...to the bottom)
8. Lumberton (Got some good youth programs, but a few years away)

I don't see a standout in this district that will compete for a State Title.

LCM returns the whole line minus right tackle which is easily replaced, two running backs in Sezar and Douglas. Sezar will be a monster. Receivers in Jordan Harmon and four year starter Preston Armstrong, along with Burleigh and Wright. Some current sophomores will step it up in the receiver spot as well, all that remains is quarterback and with a surrounding cast like that he'll do fine. As for defense, it's open for anyone.

LCM may very well be very good next year, but if you are looking for an indication of how good they were without Gonzales, look at the Nederland game, where they got hammered...even though Gonzales played, he was limited quite a bit and the result was not so favorable...don't underestimate replacing a guy with that level of talent...again, I am not saying that LCM won't be good, simply stating that Gonzales' graduation leaves more room for questions/the unknown.

Same type scenario exists for Nederland, where I think they will be much improved on defense with so many returners who gained valuable experience last year...the offense may end up being good, but there are certainly more question marks and unknowns on that side of the ball with the loss of guys like Sonnier, Salenga, Jones, Forney, and others...for what its worth, I see these 4 making the playoffs next year, in no particular order: Nederland, PNG, Central, and Livingston...Ozen will be a threat so long as Green stays healthy (he is the real deal IMO), Vidor had some young guys get playing time last year and this will help them as well...as for now, I see Lumberton and LCM as the strugglers, but you never know.

Now that I am free to kick back and give a good, unbiased 411 on the LCM Bears, this is how I see, this is a long one, so here goes...

The LCM bears mindset of 2010 was totally different than the 2009 mindset.  The 2010 bears were going in expecting to compete for a district title (starting after 7 on 7 success and peaking after the dismantling of Lumberton).  Emotionally, they totally peaked too early in the season - this is evident in how they finished the season.  The first three games - Lumberton, Ozen, and Central, you saw a totally different mindset than you did the last 4 games, particularly on defense.  They totally had their head up their --- against Vidor, gave a weak showing against a admittedly hot PNG team, played shamefully defensively against Livingston, and totally did not show up at Nederland.  Don't forget, this was a team that going into the Nederland game thought they were going to be a second seed (thinking Central would beat PNG and they would beat Nederland - either or, a host of things would have to go against them to not make the playoffs).  And they were getting their butts kissed after the sorry, fortunate Livingston victory.  Nederland, on the other hand, had to go in and win as underdogs on senior night to make the playoffs.  LCM put up such a sorry, half--- performance that I left midway through the fourth.  And not to make excuses, but the Bears did lose 7 starters in between the Lumberton and Nederland games, not including Gonzales's injured performance.

Now fast-forward to this year's team: although they return about 10-11 starters (not including guys who stepped in for injured players), they are widely considered an afterthought.  But these are not boys formed in the Moody era.  These will-be sophomores have already won 13 frosh and jv games, almost as many as this years graduating seniors had in all four years of high school. Thus, they are part of a winning program, and are expecting to win, unlike this year's seniors were.  And the coaches now have a winning base to build around.  The workout room ethic last year was nowhere close to this year's, and the running program is above anything I have seen in high school (not that I'm too experienced with high school offseason training/conditioning).  And perhaps most importantly, the coaches don't have to put up with lazy kids and whiny kids, because kids want to be a part of this program.  Its not just a disciplined nucleus of kids this year, its everybody.  The only weaknesses this team has is that they will be hard-pressed to find corners to replace this year's guys, and finding a replacement for Gonzales will be difficult.  Sonnier, although a phenomenal receiver, will not be as missed because of LCM's incredible depth at the receiver position.

Good post bear.
Harmon made some of the best catches i have ever seen last year. I think he will make everyone forgot about sonnier next year.
Im hearing through the grapevine lcm has a qauterback coming up that has better running ability than gonzo and a lil better arm. Just hard to beat gonzos toughness.

Me, like a lot of people, are expecting a lot from the harmon kid.
Im going to go ahead and say this he will be the best reciever in district next year. Kid has d-1 potentail along with reed.

I was just having fun Indian, I don't know who it will be. There is a good battle going on for the job. Gonzo is a special kid, best competitor I have ever been around, but the kids going for the job have their own strengths. LCM is a different group since Coach Crouch and his staff have taken over, the Bears will be in the hunt.
