Tyrone_Biggums Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 If you had a squad with 6 or 7 players that can dunk easily, would you run an offense based primarily on outside shooting. The team has 3 players that are 6'5" plus and several players that rattle the rim. Gamal Fowler is pretty good and they have two point guards that are pretty nice. Why aren't the Broncos playing an inside out game that focuses on the two tall twins and booth? I think the talent is there, but the system is wrong for the players that are on the court. I just don't get it. Not knocking the coaching, but the system seems ill suited to the talent available. I want to see a winner in all sports. The B-Ball team hurts my heart.Heres a thought: Focus on defense and have your bigs crash the boards. Keep booth at the free throw line and let the tall twins cut to the basket and pick for each other. Fowler has game. Let him set up for the three and drive when it's not there on the kickout. The points can shoot, and the one with the ball handling skills can knock down the mid range jumper. c'mon guys. PLEASE PLEasE PLEaSe.....win a district game for Tyrone....the talent is there, let's get this thing going.BTW....the JV squad can be nasty if they keep balling together.
Lazeek Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I have seen Dayton play 2-3 times year.......honestly other than Arceneaux they are just average players. Arceneaux is a very good player. Not sure how old he is, but if he is back next year and if the JV is good like you say then they could rebound well next season and win some games!!!
Tyrone_Biggums Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Posted February 4, 2011 Yeah, you've got some length on that team and some shooters....I just don't get the system. JV looks really good. I would like to see a winning team at some point. There has been a serious drought in Broncoland when it comes to hooping. I just don't get how you don't make a run with some of the athletes that have come through over the years.I know my ticket is only 3 bucks, but this has been no bueno lately.

Guest speechless Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 that situation is set up for football to succeed has been for years
BLUEDOVE3 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 My sources tell me that Dayton will get a 6'5"-6'6" freshman for the Fall. He plays in Liberty right now. I've seen him play. He stills needs a lot of work but you never know ;)
Guest speechless Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 sounds like a heckuva wide receiver prospect

east texas bb Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 speechless sounds right to me, it sounds like they are going the football way and basketball is what it is. Until basketball is treated on the same fair ground as football, Dayton will struggle from now on. To build a program you need a coach that knows what he is doing, (im not saying the one their dosent, I dont know) and the next thing as important as the first is that the basketball coach is able to do the things needed to be sucessful. If they just bring in a good basketball coach and hamstring him, he want be their long if he is smart or go their if he can see it before he gets hired. Good coach, and allow him the things he needs to do. Give him a few years and Dayton can win. If football is all that matters, then this conversation dosent matter.
