A loss is a loss. It is what it is! ::)
And take it from Dove He has watch enough HF games to know what a LOSS is ;D
Luckily I still remember what it feels like to be a winner, but its fading fast ;D
But that winning fell will be all but forgotten by next year, after finishing the season with 3 stright losses this year. But I guess you can get a jump start on that weight lifting program :D
I think the weight lifting may have some of those guys sore. My 9th grader knees are killing him. Not saying its the weights but its probably putting more pressure on them.

Let me rephase what I said, the team from Orangefield I mentioned before had more talent but the team from 2005 who made the playoffs, set the record for most wins in a season, had less talent then the teams in the past, played as a "TEAM" and that is why they won. By the way the team from 2005 did not win many games in junior high or subvarsity. They key was they kept working hard and proved all the non believers wrong.
What about the 2008 team that lost to Navasota in the play-offs... in overtime I think.  Navasota ended up losing to HJ only by a last second put in (think Nederland's K Smith against PNG).  HJ made it to the Regional Finals and lost to Silsbee.

That OF team had good fundamentals, great discipline and patience as well.

Yes, the Orangefield girls lost to Navasota in OT. Don't remember about the boys. I believe they also lost to Navasota but don't think it was in OT. I know the boys beat Coldspring in bi-district. My point is Orangefield boys basketball program has gotten better but they are not close to the level hardin jefferson is.
I seem to recall coming back from a game up the country and dropping off to see the last quarter of the OF - Navasota game.  I remember being surprised at how close it was.  It was like I was wondering if I was watching the same Orangefield team that we played in district.

P.S.  And it sure wasn't the same Orangefield team that I grew up hating in the early 80's!  ;)

Peveto Nation was alive & well in the late 70's to early 80's. They had unbelieveably tough teams in those years with Coach Peveto @ the helm.

I assume you are talking football?  I heard that, back then, seventh graders would repeat the grade for the sole purpose of enhancing football team performance in high school.  Any truth to that?
Thanks a lot!!! Years of therapy down the drain......

BTW, I was talking about basketball.  I mean, I hated OF in football because they always kicked our tails (Buna), but I hated them even more in basketball because they would stall the whole stinking game.  We'd kick their tails, but it was very frustrating.  I mean, you want to get back at them for stompin' us in football, and then you have to chase them all over the court!

Ed held back his sons Bradley and Gary burt. I few followed in Bradley's class (1982) but not many. I would say 5 are so stayed backed in the 7th grade.
Yeah, Clay James and a few others.

Gary (or "Bunkie") was funny.  300 pound fieldgoal kicker...... and I swear his head didn't fit in his helmet!!!!  :D

To be honest, I think I was always about 1/2 second behind on his fastball!  Dude could chunk!

I will tell him. I see him from time to time. I graduated in 1980. I played football and ran track against Jackie Harris. He was a manchild.

My brother played on that team. Todd Shores was on that team also. Remember it well, Hershel Taylor was the coach. You know they did that so they would not get beat so bad.  ;D ;D
I was on JV that year (class of '82).  If you didn't like tackling him, or being tackled by him, just think how much fun it was being on the practice squad.
