I think it was because of who they had beaten compared to who we played.....a SOS type deal.I believe they said that OSU hasn't beaten Wisconsin in 6 years. Texas finally beats Baylor in 5 tries.

If Texas hadn't lost at USC they'd be #1 right now. their other two losses were by two points each to two great teams, UCONN and Pitt.
