Since this has been stated, I will say that I had heard a game with a much stronger opponent had been set up but had to be dropped for this reason. And on top of that if that rumor was true, the trip was not even an hour away.

That Joe Sigler club was the best team I ever saw that didn't win a playoff game.I wonder if the football club would have had travel restrictions.Travis needs to start a marathon tourney to raise funds and travel where his club needs to go.They are too good to handcuff like this.

Exactly!!  If I find out that this rumor is true,  I will have lost all respect for one or two people,  if there is  a better reason then I guess its just a tough situation.

Im not positive but I'm pretty sure alot of the gate money goes to the refs.....I have been told this by several people that should know...

Depends on the size of the crowd.The officials get a flat fee and then a small percentage of the gate not nearly all of it.

If you put 1000 people in the seats then both schools will not only not lose money but make money. The officials in the playoffs get mileage & flat fee (no gate).

[/quote]which was exactly my point.  You put Silsbee with another marquee team for a warm up game, then your gate receipts will more than cover any referee fees.  The 40 mile limit couldn't be a financial decision, for it makes no sense.

Never said I knew for a fact. I said if the rumor was true. But I heard on two separate occasions that the game was set up.then i was told the reason for it not ti happen.
