Well, Kountze with the 'W'.  3-1.  Colby Price with the win, racking up 16 K's with 3 hits and 2 walks.  Relieved by Travis Hoke in the 7th to finish the game.  A couple of good hits.  Phillip Simon hit an RBI triple to end the scoreless streak in the 4th.  Kountze is lookin pretty good!

Congratulations to Kountze on the opening day win.  However, Chester is always a salty team, and pretty decent year in and year out.  Coach Young has a rebuilding job to do, and hey a 3 - 1 loss is manageable.  Keep building 'Jackets and we'll be just fine.

Thanks for the encouragement.  The first game HR is exciting no matter the pitcher or the outcome.  Price did pitch a great game.

For those who think we're down, don't be too quick to judge.  We are still fielding some pretty scrappy players.  With a little re-organization and some good coaching we intend on being right there in the mix.  You don't have to have 9 college-bound players to be a good team.  Talent, heart and leadership are all important factors in a competitive program.  We got all 3.

None of us know the outcome of season until the last game is played, but I'm expecting a great ride. Man I love baseball season!  Fear the Sting!

No one better for the Chester job right now than Coach Young. They are fortunate that he chose to go there. They do have several talented players with some that are very young. i am just glad they are getting to play. Good luck Jackets!
