jdcurran235 Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 I hate the fact that we have over 20 wins and we are still only 86 on the RPI. The fact that only 25% of your wins count towards the RPI is 75% of the problem. Hopefully moving to the WAC will fix all of that.

[/quote]If only your winning percentage mattered, than teams would schedule cupcakes all year long. That's why 50% of the score comes from your opponents winning percentage, it means to be at the top you have to beat teams that are good, you can't get by with wins against Wiley College.
jdcurran235 Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 I understand that fact, but when winning percentage matters so little that conferences send 12 teams to the big dance and some with only .500 seasons, there is something wrong with the calculation or system IMO. Even if the lady cards don't win the tournament they should get an at large bid. same thing happened to SHSU a few years ago where they even knocked off a ranked apponent early in the season and had 20+ wins yet did not go to the big dance and had to settle for an NIT invite because they had a loss in the tournament. Something needs to change on how they invite teams. I have no problem with 6 teams from one conference making it in but when teams are barely over .500 and making it into the tournament because they are from a certain conference, there is a problem.

jdcurran235 Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Yet with the few losses we have we are still only 86 on the RPI and noone from the SLC will get an at large bid
