Cleveland is the better team and they have better athletes.  The problem is HJ has a better coach, HJ is a more disciplined team, and HJ is a smarter team.  I don't mean smart in the IQ sense, i mean smart in the basketball sense.  The last two years, Cleveland was winning the game and when it came down to the end, they made stupid mistakes.  When HJ was able to score and apply pressure, Cleveland folded up.  They failed to play smart ball and threw up on themselves.
HJ by 5.
Why is that?  I listened over the radio.  Did the coach do a poor job or are the fans looking for a scapegoat.
I dont thing so the way they talk they try to get him fired last year.

Tired of 3 years of repeating history!
IOW, they are looking for a scapegoat!  ;D
they've been waiting for him to take one of the most talented programs in the state past a less-talented team with inferior athletes for 3 years, and 3 years in a row they've been outclassed and outcoached.

if i'm not mistaken, the cleveland team's five starters, or at least four of them have been starting for 3 years together.  and they're REALLY good.  with that talent, he should've been able to get past HJ at least once, especially considering HJ's had a "down year" all three years :)

Reed, Richardson and Ross have been starting for 3 years.  Walker is a new starter this year, but was on team last year.  The Indians have really missed Ross' twin brother who tore his ACL in football and consequently missed the entire basketball season!!!  There starting 5 were very good, but the bench is non-existent!!!!

so they would've had four 3-year starters except for the injury.  i knew there were at least 4 of them.

One moved to Atascocita, I believe, hoping to get better exposure in football maybe.

HJ              15/22     68%

Fouls---
Cleveland       18
HJ                 10
Two comments:

1)  Cleveland hit most of their 3's in the 1st half, except for 2 or 3 late in the 4th to make it a game (I was getting a little worried when they were at the FT line only 4 points down, mind you.  They went ice cold in the pivotal 3rd quarter, like I thought they would.  Those legs just don't have that bounce.

2) How many rebounds did Cleveland have, or is Lazeek having trouble counting that high!!!!  C'mon, you two announcers ought to have enough fingers and toes to count that high!!!!  Heck, you got 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot.  That totals up to......well....... well, it totals up to a lot!  ;)

HJ just doesnt have near them team they have had in the past.....it's ok I still pull for nederland
I don't know about you, but that's the way I've looked at HJ this year.  Very good team this year, but ranked 5th out of the last 5 teams.

With that in mind, I can understand why other guys underestimated us.  Which makes it all the more fun to beat teams like Cleveland.  It wouldn't be half as fun if HJ went into the game 15 points favorites.

I always knew this group had a huge upside....yes i have seen them play bad early and midway....but I always knew they were capable...I was just poking fun at dogs a little bit quoting him from a while back...
Poppa- are you being one of those arrogant HJ fans with history related expectations?
I was afraid they didn't have that guy that can carry them on his back, like they've had the past few years.  I mean, we all knew Prudhomme had it in him, but I don't think he knew it.  His last two games have joyfully proved me wrong!!!!!

I dont keep stats like steals, rebounds or blocks.  No time to keep all of that!!!
Oh, just admit it.  You can't count that high!!!!!

Between Gus's steals, that center from Stafford's blocks last Friday, and Cleveland's rebounds, you'd go into circuit overload!!!!

LaZeek would be LaCrashed!

Yes, I am too dumb to count that high!!! ::) ::)
From what I heard over the radio, it would be hard to count the Cleveland rebounds.  How many 2nd and 3rd (and 4th!) chances did they get toward the end there?  Of course, it seemed to pay off somewhat with some quick fast break points.

Todd Sutherland and his staff deserve a lot of credit for the team's success year in and year out.  Folks constantly want to count the Hawks out, but yet, from somewhere out of nowhere, Sutherland and crew lead the young Hawks to the front of the pack.  Though they don't win state every year, the fact that HJ is this deep in the playoffs every year speaks volumes for the coaching staff.  Coach Sutherland is THE catalyst for HJ's success.  Congrats go the team and unlimited respect goes to Coach Sutherland and his assistants.  Great job, gentlemen!

I hate being wrong.  I predicted a 5 point win, not 8.  It appears, by the way the thread read during the game, that Cleveland didn't fold or choke this game.  It read that HJ had control most of the game.

i submit we change the name of Cleveland to West Sour Lake.   ;D

HJ will join us on the sidelines tonight. This isn't the same Cleveland team that loses every year. The Indians will go to state.

Can someone please help me follow BADSANTAS logic?  Months ago he couldn't stand HJ & then he couldn't praise HJ enough & predicted how bad HJ would beat Cleveland & now he's saying HJ will join his Silsbee Tigers on the sideline.  Obviously he is one to just jump on a bandwagon - I guess he is an HJ fan again.  Could this be the 3rd, 4th, 5th reincarnation of SWAG?

I told you a long time ago that he's bipolar in a HUGE way! ::)
