Rebel Yeller Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Sports is a funny thing and the outcome of games and seasons can take some weird bounces. Just take a look at the four regional 1A brackets coming up this weekend.Region 1 - #12 White Deer vs. Olton & #1 Clarendon vs. #6 FarwellRegion 2 - #19 Albany vs. #4 Kerens & #3 Clyde Eula vs. #20 MunsterRegion 3 - #7 Cayuga vs. #24 Tenaha & #2 Clarksville vs. #10 GrapelandRegion 4 - Normangee vs. Stacey & Evadale vs. MasonFive undranked teams in the regional tournaments and region 4 has 4 of the 5. Normangee and Stacey were even the 3rd place teams in their districts and one of them will make it to the regional final. Like I said sports is a funny thing and the ball can take a funny bounce. Region 1 & 3 could produce a #1 vs. #2 semi final contest and regions 2 & 4 just might send an unranked team to the final.
knows2much Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 a lot of the time rankings don't mean anything. TABC posts rankings based on stats/records from maxpreps.com. If the coach doesn't keep that stuff currenct on maxpreps...the team has no chance at a ranking. Example: Hardin's girls defeated the #1 team in the state in the playoffs last lear. They went into the playoffs 28-4 this year and were district champs. They weren't ranked 1 week this year because the coach doesn't use maxpreps to post stats. They should've been ranked all year and weren't because of that. So...rankings mean nothing.

hjhawks Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 it's not max preps.... there is a contact person for each classification that you have to send your stuff to to become "ranked"Any coaches I know put no thinking into rankings....
underarmor Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I would hope more coaches especially in our area start to use maxpreps because it is a real good tool to keep up on what all players and teams in our area are doing. I encourage all schools to use maxpreps to promote the players and schools
catfever Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 You are completely right. Every coach should post all of their stats so that if and when they make it to the playoffs, teams who might have never seen them play or only got 1 tape on them, can know who their leading scorer, rebounder, free throw shooter, and possibly defender is by these stats. Every coach should help one another out.
