Who were the other guys on the field with Junior last night?

I also thought Prewitt looked good--he's made it clear someone is going to have to take the job from him.  That can't be anything but healthy.  I'm cheering for whoever's in the game.

What I am most interested in knowing is not how the QB's performed but how did the O-line and D-line look as well as the Linebackers, DB's etc.  Does the team look like they are getting stronger, bigger, quicker and in better shape?  Do the players look like they are understanding the offensive and defensive schemes better?  These are the things that will make the real difference next year.

I wish someone who saw the game would give their opinion on this!

I saw the game and Jeremy Johnson looked the best to me both as a runner and passer. JMO. I'm not a coach but I know several and played from a youth until I graduated high school.

I know it isn't popular but Bevil looked good to me.

Prewitt made a couple of nice passes but isn't the running threat Bevil and Johnson are.

O-Line/Dline looked pretty solid for being separated...Once they find a first team, Im sure it will be solid.

DB's Corners did an outstanding job IMO...#24 was a good cover corner and tackler...Safety wise, Garrett made some big plays as always and expect more from him in the fall....LB's I'm not sure on...there was a little guy making plays all over the field for the white defense..#42 I think...he must have had 7-10 tackles(or assisted)..

Joseph Viator from LC-M is short but is listed at 195 lbs so he is pretty thick!

was that #30?..if it was, he stood out a lil more than others.

What mffl is saying is that Coach Hinshaw may be getting the boot and Coach Woodard will take over play calling duties.
You got it!!

mffl, is Coach Woodard going to hire an additional position coach because Coach Hinshaw coaches the safeties besides being the DC?

I would think they would want all 7 assistant coaches plus the GA who coaches the secondary.

I also attended the lamar spring game. If you saw the stat line of " J J " i guess 9 of 10 would look impressive. Against that rudy poo secondary though goodness. He could have easily been 4 of 10 with 3 int's . Everything he threw was late, he threw a fade route into a cover 2, and the half safety just ran right by the ball, most college safeties would pick that. Scrambled to his left one time and threw what looked like a kickoff, end over end, but no one was within 30 yards of the receiver. Threw a corner route for a touchdown that was literally like 3 seconds late, which is an eternity in football. The receiver broke and he was looking left, looking right, the receiver was doing jumping jacks and then he hit him. Completed a ball to the tight end that should have been picked, he was open forever and of course the ball was thrown late, safety jumped it and missed it. Lamar seems to have everything figured out though haha. They won't when a game with Jeremy back there, I can promise that, unless its against Our Mother of Mercy. On a high note though, I think they found a good returner and running back in Venson, that kid has some serious moves.

I find it funny that you would be criticle of Jeremy going 9 of 10 against that "roody poo" defense when your boy Prewitt went 5 of 13 against that same "roody poo" defense. JJ did have 39 yards rushing and 2 TD passes while Prewitt had just 13 yards rushing and 0 TD passes against this "roody poo" defense. This with Prewitt having known the offense a spring and a whole season(also starting some games) and JJ just picking it up a couple of months ago. ::)

It's no secret who they are designing the offense to fit around. ;)

Can you name any of the Red Teams DB's? Maybe Jordan Garrett transfer from Tulane, Ryan Clark, Chad Allen, Adrien Guillory, Jeremiah Alexander a transfer from Houston. They did not only play against Johnson but Prewitt as well.

Your memory of the game is great as you can recall several plays "exactly" as they happened.  ::)

Since you can remember these plays so well and Johnson's stat line, what was Prewitt's?

As for as the negative stuff you remember, they have a coaching tape of the game and one thing about video it doesn't lie.

As far as Mike Venson, he was on campus last year just had to get his grades in order. The guy is only 5-10, 170 lbs but he has low 4.4 forty speed and should help the running game.

The coaching staff is holding a couple of scholarships for possible FBS transfers and I've heard they will take a certain RB if he becomes available.

I'm not going to go back and forth, but I wouldn't drink the koolaid on a quaterback that has never played in a collegiate game and can't throw the ball. He is the worst passer on the team, all other 4 quaterbacks throw the ball better than he does. Last time I checked quarterbacks had to throw the ball. I don't need to defend Prewitt, he was a field goal away from being 3-0 as starter as a freshman, in actual games. not going against each other. Intrasquad scrimmages don't mean jack. I'll take actual game experience and production over a glorified practice any day. I'm with you though, the new kid in town is the best thing since sliced bread, the way he reads and reacts, and gets the ball out on time with anticipation. haha What offense are they designing for him? is it a new one? something never seen before? maybe the one where they snap it to him and tell him to run like they did at silsbee? or throw the bubble screen? anyway best of luck to Lamar, I hope the coaches are smarter than I think. I'm done with this.

Smart, make a few comments then say you are done with it. I hope you stand by your word. I'm not a QB coach but I know a few guys that played the position and they think Jeremy Johnson is pretty good and since I know their names and I only have a username for you I'll take their word on it.

I have a feeling this isn't the only username you use on this forum.

BR 360, I haven't heard anything about a new coach, and I don't believe the players have either. It seems like Woodard has taken over the play calling duties for this next season.

9 of 10 and he didn't make a decent throw all night?  Something just doesn't add up here.  And those "Certain should have been interceptions" would have been made with you playing safety, right?  I'm hearing sour grapes here.  Did you tryout and make it?
Does anyone know that Hindshaw is gone or are you just jumping to that conclusion because he wasn't on the field during the Red-White game?  There could be a lot of other reasons for him not being out there.

Not sure. All I know is that in the practices that I attended, Ray was working with the secondary and making the defensive play calls.

Now that you mention it...I had a hard time figuring out the identity of the offense....maybe it was just the play calling between the coaches.. ???
