1. LCM. They won both games this week and have been solid all year.

2. Nederland. Lost against a good Vidor team but bounced back nicely against PNG.

3. Silsbee. Didn't have much this week but took care of business. Suprised at how well they have played this year. Their record speaks for itself.

Livingston and Barbers Hill have really played well also. PNG has 2 losses by 2 runs. Huffman could be the best team no one has seen. Lee beats experts say the best pitcher in the area, then loses to BH.

Livingston should move into the top 15, not top 5 or even 10 yet...they have been inconsistent so far..if they contiue to win then they could keep climbing.....by virtue of their wins this week, LCM should move to the top..nederland and png are still top 5 caliber in my opinion..

Jasper has to be higher than 15. Hudson would be a ranked team if they were in SETX. Losing to them is not a bad loss. Jasper and Hudson will fight it out for the district crown the rest of the season.

How does one rank teams is the question. Its tough this season
Does one, if any, really think 13 teams are better than PNG?
Every high school team peaks and valleys, its those who come out of the "slump" the quickest who remains a tough opponent.
Unfortunately for PNG, looks like they werent prepared for Livingston taking for granted at home with Stone on the mound, and didnt produce runs... then ran into a even opponent in Nederland and got beat....PNG who has 2 losses by 1 run, one taking 11innnings, drops to 14? .....
Then you have Westbrook who has won 8 or 9 of their last 11, Silsbee, Huffman, LCM... All of which are playing good baseball right now...
Are these teams "ranked" above these in particular worthy of beating them in a head to head ballgame?
LCM 1  and NED 2(lost 1 inning to Vidor which cost them the game) but after that, flip a coin "THIS WEEK".. and Silsbee is a train gaining momentum but they have to beat Bridge City before people give them their due acknowledgment, fair or unfair, just the way it is, Bridge City has earned that type of respect in district... yet Silsbee, who more people need to see perform, was the dark horse in 3A's this season, Silsbee is a talented bunch.

This season compared to previous seasons, its tough to rank teams.
The concern, Id have as a coach, is team defenses are not consistent nor is the situational hitting.
The 4a baseball here is going to remain tough because so many clubs have an arm who can beat any club on any given night.
Stone, Maxwell, Hagler, Townsend, KSmith, T Smith, Pitts, C Bell, Duplant, now Livingston runs out the Moore kid that as a group can beat any team, due to ability to get the strikeouts in "impact situations"...
Barbers Hill and Crosby run out an arm who can beat anyone, so how does one rank them?

The thing thats ALWAYS concerned me in this area is the bunt game... not many teams are consistent bunting the ball therefore not many teams are forced to be sound at defending it and when the playoffs come, the concerns are "situational offense & defense" and how our locals defend it as well as execute it.
Yet the sacrifices and attention to detail these local high school coaches show is very admirable and they all do great jobs at their schools with the resources they are given...

As far as I'm concerned put PNG @ #1 and LCM at #14.  Heck, go ahead and drop LCM off the list althogether.  Rankings like this are meaningless (although they are fun which is the whole point of the forum), but I'd just as soon see the team fly under the radar.

what does silsbee have to do get some respect? kelly should be higher too.

Once district starts we will see if they rise or fall.  3rd is not bad though especially since they are ahead of teams that have either beat or tied them.  I still think PNG should be higher JMO...

The loss to unranked Liv hurt them in the rankings IMO.
[/quote]

At the end of it I still thinks LCM, NED, and PNG will still be 3 of the top teams in the area.

Those three are in the same district, so they get to beat up on each other and that's not including Livingston, Vidor, and even Lumberton. Name a 3A district or other 4A and 5A district in this area that has that much depth? These teams will knock each other around the rankings the whole year.

Good point.  I am a Silsbee fan and have to agree.  BC has earned the respect.

The difference between teams in 20-4A and 21-3A has always been huge. 4A to 3A baseball leap IMO is a big one in 95% of the cases. The top teams in 204A will always beat the top teams in 213A. PNG has played some tough tough teams and it should not shock anyone if they came back and finished as high as second or even still have a chance for a district title.

WOW..... I guess as long as you have will your right so far this year.  ;D  I think a 3a club playing a top 20-4a team helps once they get to district where it counts.  You also have to take into consideration that when a 3a team plays a 4a team they might be trying different situations with RISP, Buntting, Hit and Runs...and so on.... To where a 4a team doesn't want to get embarrassed and lose... JMO.
