My friend had a beach cabin this week, and surf fished every day, didn't catch a single thing... He then went to the bay/canal side and got the same thing... Wondering what's going on? I mean you atleast get hardheads or croaker, but can't even get those!

i went out to the same place that tvc and i went last night, but fished it by boat this time with a buddy.  they weren't popping quite as hard, but we still managed 15 in about 4 hours.

I rode by and didnt see yall.  I rode out to the pier and watched them a few but very quiet and seemed only thing biting was mesquitos.  I came back north and hit a few of the lights on channel side and lake with only a few non keepers so I gave it up.

i only remember one boat going by.  we fished the two lighted shrimp boats from about 11-3.

I wasnt in a boat that night i was just riding around

you know it's been a good summer when two of you go out and catch 14 specks, 2 sandies, and a red and feel like it wasn't a good night's fishing :).  we had to fight for them all night, though, and it was tough going due to the 50 or so dinks we caught.

a buddy and i went out last night and kept 17 specks, and kept 16 more tonight.  the fishing isn't on fire, but there are still plenty around.

went out for a couple of hours tonight, but got run off by the lightening.  kept 3 reds (26, 24, 21) and 5 specks (21 1/2, 20 1/2, 18, 15, 15).  we were in the fish, and probably would've limited out on both species if we hadn't had to leave.

Not Gulps.

Thanks for the info. You just eliminated one of the possible baits that you’re catching them on.  ;)

The last two trips I caught a good number of them on Yozuri Crystal Minnows but those certainly weren't our only baits. They seem to like that swimming minnow effect.

No. Is it cheaper than the Yozuri that is about $8 a pop?

Yeah.  Probably $5    It's a short, fatter bait but it dives just under like other jerk baits.  Give it a try if you like jerk baits.

Who carries them?

The main think I look for in the swimming/jerk baits is being able to run true at more than very slow. You can crank down on a Yozuri and really run it and it will still run.
