Little Cypress Youth Basketball- Advice needed

I need someone's take on the youth basketball programs in the Little Cypress area. I've got an 8 yr. old girl and a 12 yr. old boy who I'm trying to get into a good program.

Is it a "Little Dribblers" program? Are there others? Which one would you recommend as being organized and fairly run?

Any help would be appreciated.

Upward Basketball Leagues are becoming very popular...Theyre done through churches...if theres one in the area, that may be your best bet!

They've done Upward for several years. It's been a super program too.

I know that I want to get the 12 yr. old into a different program that teaches a bit more of the game and that keeps score as well. I'm trying to get him ready for the 7th grade team next year.

Since I'm looking to put the 12 yr. old in that, I thought it would be easier to put the 8 yr. old in it as well.

I do highly recommend the Upward program for the younger children though.

The league is only as good as the folks running it. Little Dribblers as a whole is a good organization (in my opinion). That being said, it does not mean every town that has little dribblers is run right. I do not know anything about Little Cypress' league, but Little Dribblers is a good org.

Wish I could be of assistance. We are a baseball family through and through. This is our first year in L.C. little dribblers (7 yr old boy). I know some of the coaches in that age group and they are great guys. Anyway, good luck.

So please forgive my ignorance but is the Little Cypress Community Basketball league the Little Dribblers program. That is the only program I have info about.

The LCM program is not currently part of the little dribblers program, it is a city program. The difference is that it is not eligible for all stars.

The Little Cypress Community Basketball league is NOT affiliated with Little Dribblers national programs.

It is a very well run community basketball league that teaches/stresses fundementals at a much more competitive level than the Upwards programs, but does not have an "advancement team" like Little Dribblers. Players must live in the LCM school district to be eligable to participate in this league. This league has continued to grow over the last few years and hopefully will have a positive impact on the school districts teams in the near future.

The LC Community season will start after the Christamas holidays and sign up have already taken place. A board of directors contact would be Dawn Nichols.

Both of my kids are signed up and ready to play.  We are looking forward to a great season in LC.

Just got back from my daughter's first game.  How funny they are to watch!  Several times the crowd had to inform the girls that they were headed to the wrong goal! lol  Too cute!
