Lamar Sanders, Jay Nabors, Currye Todd...All hard workers who had they been a few inches taller would have been at a high major. All great character guys and team leaders as well as fan favorites because they recognized their roles in the LU community. All Skelton recruits from his NW Miss days. Been told by players that he ran that offense when he was here. Those were the only successful teams under the Roc regime. The guy breeds success wherever he goes.

This is a sad list compared to the interest we would get in the good old days of long ago.  The only two names I'd even consider on here are Skelton and Cross.  I don't know who Green and Cyprien are so maybe one of them would be ok?

I know there is plenty of bad blood toward Abettemarco's arrogance toward the community the first time around, I think he has stated in an interview that he was out of line and regrets his earlier comments.

I'm sure he does regret his remarks but what made him change his mind about the area? The guy moved away and hasn't worked here since then.

And if he's left once after a decent year, what makes you think he won't do it again?

Kenny Dawkins was Skelton's guy, too.  Played Juco in Arizona, but he's from the same part of Mississippi as Skelton.  A team full of players like that would dominate the Southland.

Cross, I know this guy is young but hey, [b]he can coach and players respond to him[/b]. That is just what Lamar needs. I have went and watched him this season and I have watched Lamar also and this guy is the fit to bring our program up and continue to move up. I hope they give him a good look. If we do not get him someone else will get him.

Chad Cooper gives some very good insightful information why the coach from Oklahoma would be a good applicant and possible fit for Lamar. I especially liked the fact that he recruits and wins in D-11. Sorry, but Lamar has a history of recruiting lower level players and obviously this coach has a skill and hitory  at putting good teams together without the big time players.

Dove- Dont go screwing up the hiring process up by trying to convince any of the candidates that the greater coaching opportunity lies somewhere between Beaumont and Winnie.

I agree- and there are some older coaches out there who feel as though they are trapped(sort of a coaches death row) and will say anything to escape their current dilemma.

He seems like a great choice as well.  I think we have some good candidates with Green, Evans (if he is interested), Skelton, Cross, and a couple of the others.
