He is talking to an Oklahoma paper trying to promote himself. He is trying convince people in Oklahoma that the jump from D2 to the Big 12 isn't that far. The problem the problem comes in when he uses the Southland as an example, where I'm sure he is/was one of the top candidates. He could have stopped with just the SWAC reference and been fine. I'm pretty sure if you go back over the past 5 years the SLC winning percentage versus DII opponents is well over 0.750.This is like saying that the SLC is as good as the SEC because Nicholls State beat LSU this year!The more proper statement would be that the top 10 or so DII teams in the nation would compete well with the bottom half of the SLC on an annual basis.
