NorthoftheBorder Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Brad Stevens may be the best coach in college basketball sans Mike K! See this is what seperates the "men from the boys". You don't wait and see who comes to you, you identify who the top talent is and you go and try to hire them! You think that the top corporations in America put out a add in the paper to hire their top executives? Please! They identify who the top talent is and they go after them. How the search committee should have operated is they should have first went about identifying who the top candidates are in college basketball even if that took a month. You also put together a package that is attractive to recruit and land that type of coach. Then while you are "running your add" you go and contact those people to sell your program and university. If you get a few good candidates through the application process, great. I don't say all this to imply that Terry Johnson is the right person, but he has to have learned something from his time at Butler on how to run a top flight Mid-Major program and he is not even on our radar!
ForeverADog Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Just curious, are you sure he isn't on our radar?

ForeverADog Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Exactly. He was pursued and had no interest. Lamar questioned so many coaches to judge interest. They just really mentioned the top candidates.
