I want to be incorrect about what my instincts are telling me. Please prove me wrong.
Guest baseball25 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Also hearing that tic and cross will be on the staff!
ForeverADog Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 He'll do. He isn't the first choice but one of the best we had to chose from. Still really disappointed how far the program has fallen.

coachacola Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Pat Knight wasn't my first choice but if he can win then with his name alone should bring more press to Lamar than if Lamar was winning with a no-name coach. But first we'll see if he can be the first in a long time to actually win here on a consistent basis!!
geezer Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Let's all be honest, we will support the new coach who ever it is up until the first recruiting class is listed, the first schedule is released or the first open practice or game we see. Then we will return to 2nd guessing the basketball brain trust at Lamar
ForeverADog Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 All aside, now that he is hired let's get it done! I'm excited to see if we can turn this thing around. I'm rooting for you Pat!
AggiesAreWe Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 Just got confirmation from a Lamar source, it's Pat Knight.Expect a news conference tomorrow.

bullets13 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 i expect his name alone will get good recruits, and even though he wasn't particularly successful, he'll have a lot of experience from the big 12.

WOSgrad Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Regardless of what we think of the choice (and I admit I am not high on it), for the immediate future the fortune of Pat Knight is tied to that of Lamar University. That being the case, I wish him the best of luck and warmly welcome him to Southeast Texas.Let's do this, Coach Knight!
Guest tamulonghorn Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 mistake imo...no success to speak of lamar gotta realize that we are not big timegotta have someone who can work with smaller recruiting budgets and knows how to and is willing to search the deep dark cornrs of texas for players regardless of classification
Guest TBonesLU Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011
mistake imo...no success to speak of lamar gotta realize that we are not big timegotta have someone who can work with smaller recruiting budgets and knows how to and is willing to search the deep dark cornrs of texas for players regardless of classification
So you are saying you would like LU to stay a mid-major for the entirety of its existence? 'Forget eventually being able to consistently compete with the Big 12, etc. We want to be little ol' Lamar.'Is that it, tamulonghorn?
Guest tamulonghorn Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 no i want lamar to recognize what it currently is and that is a bottom feeder in one of the worst conferences in americalamar seems to always get caught up in names in hiring and big names dont equate to success at this level
ForeverADog Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 When was the last time Lamar hired a big name?
UNLV Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011
When was the last time Lamar hired a big name?
When Billy Tubbs was hired for the second time.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 wonder if Bob Knight will be on the staff? :o :D would love to see a couple of chairs thrown.
wompaskat Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 If true, this is good. This will give us visibility on a national level because of his old man that we haven't had in a while. Good, bad or indifferent, publicity is publicity.
Lazeek Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I think that this is a great thing for both parties involved!!!! Knight needs a forum to build his name back up and LU is a great place for him to do it!!!!
AggiesAreWe Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 Done deal!!!Look for it to be made official as early as this afternoon!
