ForeverADog Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I agree Dove. He is doing all the right things so far. Which is absolutely great! He has a buzz going around Lamar basketball again. He just needs to WIN!!!!! WIN!
WOS95 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 i thought all we had to do was bring in the big names to draw crowds...now we actually have to win too? :'(

He was pretty much small time. Great guy though. Liked him a lot.

stevenash Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Pat Foster also had very little to say. However, he was, by far, the most productive LU coach I ever saw.

Ruckdad Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Giovanne is at Augustana -last I heard - and last I heard he was pretty successful there and also coaching the Golf team.

Has compiled a record there of 199 - 89 = .691. He has had 4 conference championships in his 11 seasons there with three of them in a row '06-'07-'08. Augustana is a NCAA DIV III college. At Lamar Grey's 6 season record was 80 - 85 = .485.In his 17 year career as a "Head" his record is 279 - 174 = .615And he does coach golf when it is is season.Sounds (and looks) to me like he is enjoying what he's doing and where he's doing it.

No kidding! Probably the best overall person we have had on the LU coaching staff. Tubbs is still my favorite coach at LU! :)

His star player for part of that time was Nate Newell--remember him? He was just over .500 while there.

He thought it was awesome if he had a .500 record in conference!
shovel Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I know y'all are skeptical, and rightfully so, BUT: I like his swagger. I want to see LU play all D-1 schools too. A win (or worse, a loss!) against a Central Nowhere State or Wossamotta U doesn't do anything for the program. Playing D-1 schools will help fill seats, win or lose.

The guy could definitely recruit. So what if he left a player somewhere...the kid should have been on the bus!http://www.uamont.edu/athletics/mens%20basketball/staff/newell.htm
CThoops Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 This is a great thing for Lamar, especially if he can get two-for-ones with power conference teams. I can bet Lamar gets plenty of people in the stands and just imagine if they find a way to win one of those games? You have a better chance to beat these teams by actually scheduling them, rather than not playing them at all ;)Good luck to Pat Knight, and I hope this all works out for him
