Jake Fuljenz of Kelly H.S. signs with Lamar Golf

November 9,2006

BEAUMONT – Jake Fuljenz, who helped Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School win the 2006 TAPPS Class 6A state championship, has signed a national letter-of-intent to continue his education and play men’s golf at Lamar University, announced first-year coach Brian White.

“I’m excited about signing someone of Jake’s caliber to play here at Lamar,†White said. “I was involved with Jake’s development as a golfer at an early age, so it’s especially gratifying for me to see him move on to the next level. I hope to continue with his development and make him the best player he can be.â€

Fuljenz has helped Kelly win district championships in 2005 and 2006. He won the district championship in 2005, which was played at The Palms Golf Club on Pleasure Island.

As a junior, he won the Crosby Invitational at Newport CC and won the St. Louis Catholic HS Invitational, which was played at Lake Charles CC and Grey Plantation, shooting a final round 66. He was named to the Southeast Texas Super Gold team in 2006.

Fuljenz was the STPGA regional champion for the 14-15 year old age group in 2004 and posted a second place finish at the 2006 Southeast Texas Invitational.
