And yes, it was the smart move, but this school board isn't exactly reputed for it's stellar decision making.I would be anxious to hear from anyone who was there whether the vote was unanimous. If it was not, I'd like to know who voted against.

skipper Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I Was There Also 6-0 . Coach Hayes Raised Both Hands :)
KFDM COOP Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Some board members even held up one finger on one hand and two on the other when voting "yay" to approve Thompson, the same hand-sign players use to say "112 percent," the motto of quarterback Reggie Garrett, who died in September. He will continue to serve as defensive coordinator and will run the same 50-defense the school has run since 1977.On offense, Thompson will keep the spread offense and all of the terminology. The only change is that he wants to run the ball more."We won't be in the wishbone or the stacked I or anything like that nature," Thompson said. "We have spread athletes now."Read more: http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/default/article/Thompson-approved-as-next-football-coach-at-West-1352137.php#ixzz1KdSlCtYlRead more: http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/default/article/Thompson-approved-as-next-football-coach-at-West-1352137.php#ixzz1KdSUi9Wk

I did see Andrew Hayes raise both hands but not the 1 and 2 fingers. He was the only one that raised both hands. Not sure that part of the story is accurate.
bobbymcgee Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Looks like the veer is not coming back to WO-S
kicker Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Well then, how about the "Modified Veer". haha. No one will get that. Its an inside joke with me and Gasilla. :D
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 You can run the veer out of the spread formation ala Florida.

#1stangfan Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Are you insinuating that Toby will not be back?

Slam14 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011
TD,Dont You Think Its Just A Little Late For HIM To Make A Move .
I'm sure TD can answer for himself, but there are still a LOT of coaching changes being made around the state. There is movement all around in our area and even more around the state. New Head Coaches will bring on their own staffs and shuffle coaches on the existing staff. Some will even have those choices made for them. Even though Coach Thompson won't "overturn the applecart", it's still his program to run now and some changes may be in the future at WOS.
td Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 You're right Slam. There are changes to be made at WOS. If nothing else there are positions to be filled. We have lost a few coaches beginning and not ending with a DC.To answer your question skipper, no not at all.I sure hope he stays though.
