Russ Sutherland, head coach at Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, La. will be the new Head Coach at East Chambers. Sam Houston will be a 5-A high school next year as La. re-aligned this past Feb. Moss Bluff is on the north end of Lake Charles, La.

From what I have heard there has been no final decision made and there was around 40 applicants. Hopefully the decision will be made and finalized quickly so the transition can begin. Coach V and Cauthern have already left for Galveston Ball.

Russ Sutherland? Hope he is ready for Texas High school football. Louisiana 5A stadiums are about the size of a small school 4A Texas school. I watch Barbe and Sulphur the last few years. Its not a Beaumont bowl or Midcounty Madness. Anyone know his record at Sam? I'd like to see one of the local schools play against Sulphur.

Well EC draws a nice crowd but nothing like the Beaumont Bowl or Midcounty Madness.  EC is 2A.

Are you serious?  So the size of a stadium or crowd has something to do with someone's coaching ability?  Just because you haven't heard of him means very little.  Funny thing is, those in the football coaching circles all know who he is very well.  He has had great success wherever he has gone.  As if Louisiana just has terrible football.  ::)

Don't matter who called what when. Bottom line is that RS is apparently the new EC Coach, and the thing was wholly telegraphed way ahead. All I gotta say is "Go Bucs"!

FYI....Russ Sutherland was one of the top canidates for the AD/ coaching position six years ago at EC. Plus with his brother having coached at EC he has a little history with the area.
