so WOSgrad you concur that hiring Sutherland over Foreman or Huckabay will be a mistake that EC will regret for years?
I don't know enough about Coach Sutherland to make such a statement myself.  That is not where my post was going.  You attacked the decision making of ECBucFan and made some pretty unintelligent remarks yourself about him and the EC community.

I will say this, for the ECISD to pass over both Toby Foreman and Brian Huckabay, they had better be sure that Sutherland can RAISE the bar set by Evans, Valastro and company.

One thing about EC if they see they made a mistake in judgement about a coach, they are not afraid to pull the plug and change dircetions. Stan Howard was a recent example. He was released at mid year after a winning season.

I did not make judgements on the "ec community".  I said it was a good thing ecbucfan was not making the decisions because he/she obviously hasn't researched all candidates.  The ones actually making the decisions at EC are very high quality people and their track record has proven so.  Therefore, I find it odd that anyone would be second guessing what seems to be the hire....the second guessing only lends itself to coming across as unknowledgeable bias.

When one says that not hiring Foreman or Huckabay would be a mistake...that, in turn, insinuates that hiring Sutherland would be a mistake and my best guess is those that are making those statements don't know enough about Sutherland to be doing so.

Fellas, it's a done deal...you can stop talking about this guy or that guy...it's already done.

I would hope so, the meeting to hire the candidate is tonight, isn't it?
been done for weeks now ....sit back and watch

Sounds like someone on the inside wants this Sutherland guy.  No matter how hard they try, I don't think Todd is coming back.  Oh well, EC's mistake is the rest of that district's gain.

Todd Sutherland is not the Sutherland that is a finalist.

I am well aware of the fact that Todd Sutherland is not the Sutherland that is a finalist.  But this finalist is his brother.  My speculation is that this is an effort to try to get Todd back into the EC fold.  Just speculation.  Don't assume guys, you know what that does to you.

BTW, doesn't it make you EC backers nervous that the coach that was a supposed "mistake In judgement" is defended by the same people who say that Sutherland is the man for the EC job?  Just an observation.

EC has a basketball coach, it is not a ploy to get Sutherland back.

Who all that supported Howard supports Sutherland?  So far, one that I can see and I don't see any posts where they say they support Sutherland...just that they know it is his job.

I would be totally shocked if Todd Sutherland left Hardin-Jefferson to coach at East Chambers even if his brother was the AD there.

BTW, you are assuming when suggesting that EC would hire Todd's brother just to get Todd at EC. That has nothing to do with it.

Wrong! As one who has loyally supported the Bucs for the past two decades, I don't make snap judgements, and I don't have any "axe to grind". I am methodical in my reasoning, and yes, I did draw information on the candidates from a number on sources. This includes websites found by net searching, dialogue here on SETXSports, and personal conversation with individuals. You have no right to voice a reckless statement against me without doing the exact same thing you accuse me of not doing, which is getting facts before judging.

    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
