Ewert Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 My daughter just completed compitition in gymnastics in San Deigo, Calif.. Level 9 Westerns which is the 25 states on the west side of the US. It is a pretty big deal in the gymnastics world. Being from Beaumont I assumed that the news media would cover her accomplishments in the sport but not a word was mentioned even when the coach called the media for coverage. What a sad state of sports news this area has. She had 2 medals, one on floor (2nd) and the other on vault (3rd). Out of 48 girls she was 23, which isn't too shabby. Her name is Emily and she competes of Beaumont Gymnastics Accademy.
WOSgrad Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Hey we'll post anything sports related! What is Emily's last name? What was the name of the Gymnastics meet? Was it the one called the Western National Championships? Will she advance to any other meet due to her results?
Ewert Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 Her last name is McClelland and yes that was the Westerns National Meet. She is now training level 10 and hopes to compete that level next year. She is looking at maybe competing in college. Gymnastics takes a lot of time and effort and she loves the sport.
Ewert Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 Also today is her birthday. She is 17.. :)
WOSgrad Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 That's great. Congrats, Emily. She may have not gotten mainstream coverage. But she at the very least is part of the twitter world:http://twitter.com/#!/SETXSPORTS
geep06 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Way to go, young lady! Keep working and succeeding.
