team first Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Heard that H.F. almost lost to Vidor, is this true? It's called reality. not message board hopefuls.
cooligan Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 I try not to pay any attention to Dove and his Nederland comments. He is still upset that HF's best freshman, from last yr, transferred to a real BB program. He just needs to wise up and move the Little Doves. That move would get his 2 further in the playoffs than any HF team will go. :D

NHS1990 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Got a nice peak at some young Dawgs today in Houston. Playing against the best select teams in Texas and beyond will continue making them better. Tons of College scouts and Ex NBA players in attendance. Their future looks bright!

CThoops Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Talent level at that tournament was amazing! Tons of Scouts! Great exposure and game-time experience for them ;)
Honest Abe Posted July 14, 2011 Author Report Posted July 14, 2011 Dogs1218 or NHS1990- Who did they play against?
NHS1990 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 First game was against Houston (Select or Elite). Kids from St. Pius, Yates, and others. Lost to them by 15. Score was 102-87. The Houston kids shot over 70% from 3 land. Then they beat a team from Oklahoma by 10. Unbelievable talent at this tourney. One other local team was there from Beaumont. That team was a WB, Ozen, and Central team mixed. Talented, but no size. Not sure how they did.
CThoops Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 We played well against the first team, Houston Select, but just got out shot towards the end. That team had to have made 15 3's. Greg Wise of Jack Yates was their coach and you know he isnt going to coach a team that doesnt have a chance to win every game ;) The second team was Oklahoma Shock and we matched-up much better against them. Huge game today at 7:30 against Franchize Allstars. They played in the game right after us and you should have seen the scouts watching those players :o Expecting the same turn-out of D1 coaches
BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 I like the way English rings his guys to Houston. He understands the value of evaluating his players against better players.
NHS1990 Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Nederland played again tonight in Houston-losing a heartbreaker to Houston Franchise by 3. We led the entire game until about 2 minutes remained. Franchise is full of D1 talent. There were about 10-12 D1 scouts watching the game. They thought they were there to see the Houston kids only. I think they left with a new list of kids to recruit from Nederland and PA.

We only lost by 1 though and really turned peoples heads who thought it was going to be a blowout. Played hard and motivated to win but came up a little short..
BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Franchize has several teams . Are you positive you were playing their top team? They do have developmental teams.

CThoops Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Henderson was the coach, ex-Memorial.. a good number of their players played for Christian Life Academy Josh Gray 6'0"(Christian Life-Texas A&M Verbal), Wannah Bell 6'8"(Lamar Cons), DJ Griggs 5'11"(Brazoport), Michael Carey 6'5"(Lamar Cons),Derail Green 6'6"(Klein Forest),Bridge Lavey 6'5"(Atascocita),Marvin Saunders 6'5"(Kinkaid),Joseph Burton 6'5"(Christian Life),and few more......if you still don't believe us go ask Henderson?

Franchize lost out early at the tournament this weekend in Houston. Team Sneed 17u played in the final and lost out to another Houston team and the Sneed 16 u came a game short of the final. Not bad for a couple of small, non sponsored teams from little old Beaumont.
