smelly-cat Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Heard he became the Head Baseball Coach at Livingston High School today.
Guest UHCoog14 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Did not know Livingston was needing a head baseball coach.
HSB&Rangers Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 What happened to Livingston's head coach? Was Kirkland the head coach at HJ?
ForeverADog Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 I thought the Livingston coach did great this year. He leaving for a better school? And HJ coach? That's weird?
hitman009 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Robb Kirkland was the head baseball coach a few years back at HJ, when they were good. He was the OC in football I think and stepped down as baseball coach and took a job as head track coach. He is a excellent coach who played at UH. He will make a fine addition to Livingston. Good Luck coach!!
Ty Cobb Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Congratulations Coach Kirkland. I'm going to miss ya buddy!!!
callumlikeiseeum Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 The coach that is leaving probably won too many games. He was three outs away from the playoffs. You know how athletic director/ head football coaches hate that. Well, the majority of them.

Astros2009 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 This could certainly be a WIN/WIN situation for Coach Kirkland and the Lions. But for a few bad breaks at the end of the season in very close games, Livingston could have easily finished second in the district. This is a team that swept PNG, split with LCM, and pretty much was in every other district game they played. They will be a team loaded with lettermen next season including 7 Senior and 2 Junior starters; and two returning All-District pitchers. Beyond that, the whole team is comprised of kids who are solid citizens. Livingston "flys under the radar" in 20-4A because they are on an island by themselves in the Northwest corner of that district. All they need next year is competent leadership, perhaps a little "fine tuning," and there's no reason to think the Lions couldn't legitimately compete for the district championship next season--and even make a deep run into the playoffs. Moreover, as the Lions stayed in the playoff hunt throughout this past season, community fan support began to grow. Livingston is a community that is ready to support a winning baseball program. If Kirkland is in fact headed to Livingston, I would like to extend to him and his family a big hearty WELCOME to Lion Country!
BigTuna Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Congrats to Coach Kirkland!! He is a great Coach and even better person...Livingston will be in good hands with Robb. Best of luck to you and your family! You will be greatly missed "Big Red"!
