Socrates Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Gotta take a minute to give props to Diboll. Early in the year they didn't even look like a playoff team. Coach Trotter did a phenomenal job with these guys and made a deep run that very few could have seen coming.

Trotter did a great job getting the team re-focused after being beat by Hudson in the second half of district. Matt Smith, Carlos Medina and Jon Lowe stepped up and showed great leadership to the younger players, and Smith found his groove on the mound. I am not taking anything away from La Grange. They hit the baseball well, but as much as I hate to say this, after the big "shocker" over Hudson, there was such a sense of accomplishment amongst the younger players that some of the intensity vanished. In any case, it was a great season for the young Jacks. They re-wrote the DHS record books advancing farther than any other team before them. They will graduate 3 senior starters, and they have a good group coming up. Diboll baseball should be solid for the next several years.
