KFDM COOP Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Record Breaking Night Sends Dogs to Playoffs In typical Larry Neumann style, it looked as if Nederland began its peaking point this Friday at Bulldog Stadium. Micah Mosley, arguably the District 22-4A MVP this year, entered into the game against the Lumberton Raiders with a goal. What would that goal be you might ask?? Well it wasn’t to break any records. It was to help the Nederland Bulldogs reach the playoffs for the 11th straight year after a rough start. Nederland, with fate at its helm, stood in control of their own fate going into Friday Night. Take care of business and go to the playoffs. Mosley scored early in the game to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 jump start on its first possession. The ensuing kickoff, however, put blips on the worry radar for Nederland fans. The Raiders were able to return the kickoff for a touchdown tying the game up at 7 a piece. From here on forward, Nederland was able to let their start athlete perform his magic on this record-breaking night. Mosley was able to amass 406 yards rushing on just 28 carries. When you do the math, that’s 14.5 yards per carry. Mosley came into the game with just over 1600 yards on the season, a couple hundred shy of the record for rushing yards in a season for Nederland. Ross Labove’s record set in 1999 was officially broken in the third quarter by Micah Mosley. An outstanding athlete and student, Mosley also broke this record in fewer games than LaBove. Mosley missed a part of the Vidor game and all of the Central game and was still able to set the record in front of a hometown crowd at Bulldog Stadium. Nederland moves on after this great win to battle Galena Park in the first round of the playoffs. The game will take place at 7:00 next Saturday at Baytown Stallworth stadium.
