Zach Quinn will be missed....I've enjoyed watching him Coach the past 5 or 6 years and I consider him one of the best in our area....Not easy to come in and start a new program and be successful, but would have liked the opportunity to see what he could have done with a talented group of kids that put basketball first....Good Luck Mr. Quinn!!!!

Maybe they could talk Brian English, who is currently the head coach at Nederland into comming back to Vidor. You know Quinn led the Pirates to a 23-9 record this season, including a 19-1 start....not bad.

Not gonna happen. Why would he leave Nederland? His program is thriving, and he is coaching his own kids. 19-1 looks good on paper, but Vidor played against sub-par competition.

Sterling is the guy. Just has to have board approval.  One returning starter and a total of 2 lettermen. One of those plays football, so he wont be practicing basketball for some time once football kicks off.  It will be a very young, small team.  In order for this years team to have any chance at a good record, the staff will have to find a way to motivate kids to work way harder to improve their skills and then learn to play as a team.  It wont be easy to do that in Vidor.  No community support for basketball. No Little Dribblers to help get the little kids learning fundamentals. Heck, Vidor doesnt even have a rec center or outdoor basketball court any longer.  Pretty sad, really.

That is very sad to hear. You think there is someone in Vidor who is passionate about kids and basketball. Implementing a Little Dribblers program is the 1st step to succes, but it will not happen overnight. Nederland began a LD program about 7-8 years ago (I believe?). It wasn't until a few years ago that their program became competitive. Without fundamentals, any team has a steep hill to climb. Sounds like it's gonna be a rough season for the Pirates.

I don't think LD started in Nederland until about 7 or 8 years ago. I know my son played in the Ned Red League, but it was not LD. And he graduated in '09. I think Coach English may have been the one that started LD in Nederland.

That wasn't exactly HF grinding out the win vs. Vidor's summer league team.  Looked more like Elite Red AAU squad squeaking out the W.

All those kids suiting up for HF next year?  If so, let me be the first to say congrats on the district championship.
[/quote]Thank you! I think there were two kids not from the HF area playing that day. Can someone just give us the trophy early? ;D

    • Are you really gonna talk about decorum from a President while supporting the guy who effectively has no such decorum? Just last night the former president (and would-be despot) was in Arizona talking with Tucker Carlson and fantasized about Liz Cheney in front of a firing squad… after calling her dumb, of course.     Trump didn’t just “defecate all over the office of the President”…. He is a piece of excrement.
    • I personally hope PN-G gets 2nd gets to the 2nd round wins the flip against SOC and drag them them to Houston to play
    • I like option number two, PNG and Nederland both win. Nederland i’ll be the district champion, number 1 seed or whatever you want to call it. Yes I know that if two or three teams tie with the same record, they will be called co-champions and everyone gets a trophy. One team however will go in as the first place team in district and will play the fourth place team in the bi-district round. If PNG and Nederland both win, Nederland will be #1. I-N-D-I-A-N-S! - Scalp ‘em Indians, Scalp ‘em!  😎
    • Virginia has same day voter registration. A person can literally walk in to the voting location, register and then vote. So the premise that Virginia might be stopping people with a legitimate right to vote is nonsense. From what I gather in the news report, assuming that the ones I have read are correct, the people that were removed, filled out a drivers license registration and marked that they were not an American citizen. Could the person have made a mistake bychecking the box incorrectly? Although unlikely it is certainly possible. That same person who was removed can go into the same voting location where he would have voted and again, complete a voter registration and then vote.  That went into the Supreme Court’s decision.  If such a person votes by registering on election day, he fills out a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are not originally counted and or not counted unless needed. For example….  Statewide there are 500 provisional ballots cast. A person wins the election by 4,000 votes. That would be no need to count the provisional ballots as it will not matter. Then let’s say there are 5,000 provisional ballots cast in the election. One candidate then wins the election by only 1,500 votes. In that case, the election could definitely swing on those provisional ballots. The state will then investigate each person to make sure they live at the correct address listed and that they are American citizens. If these things are correct, the vote will then be counted. Safe Harbor is not untillll…… I think December 17th this year so there will be six weeks to verify the provisional ballots if needed. The purging of the names of people who checked a state form saying that they were not an American citizen, will not stop that same person from voting.
