NorthoftheBorder Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 If the stadium was at 28-30k, and if the team was really competitive with some attractive non conference games, then LU could average 25k+! Thats my answer.
Roger Korby Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos is adding an end zone section, a very large one, that will expand their capacity to 30,000. They are working on it now.It does not appear that Cardinal Stadium can be expanded like they are doing in San Marcos. Any thoughts on how Cardinal Stadium can be expanded to 30,000? Just curious.

puddin tane Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 a realitic view----too many people think that football ends on friday night to get 30k to LU...that+ the wannabe aggies and longhorns

coachacola Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 This is the stadium now at 16K:This could be the stadium at 25K:Even at 25K, there's still room to add more seats. A large pressbox with extra seating can add a few thousand. A small upper deck or just adding another 10 rows or so on the east side adds even more. 30K is attainable.
sleepy Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Bottom line is you have to win in Beaumont if you want support. Beaumont unfortunately is full of fair weather fans.
geezer Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Beaumont is far from the only place that expects wins to fill the stands. Have you been to an Astros or Rockets game recently. It is not hard to get tickets. Same thing is true in most major leauge cities where the teams have loosing records. Hardly expect a small university to get support if they are not at least competitive.

You just have to agree to stay the whole game ;)

puddin tane Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 and the story comes full circle...Went to a Rice game..bout 40 yrs ago..(LU had the weekend off) got in with a Coke bottle cap..trying to fill that big nice placewhich is what would happen at LU with a 30k stadium..
AJ25 Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 I think that stadium is best as-is right now until Beaumont proves they can continue to fill it.
NorthoftheBorder Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 If they stay FCS, but if a FBS invite comes, then expansion is absolutely necessary.
geezer Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Again it comes back to winning. Win at either level and it will be filled. Win as an FBS and money will come in to expand, but even if it was not expanded as long as it is full LU would meet the attendance requirements to be FBS
