The Brenham Cub football team has been contacted about possibly playing its second game of the season on the upstart Longhorn Network, Brenham High School football coach Glen West said Thursday.

Brenham, which was ranked seventh in Texas Class 4A in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football preseason rankings, will open its season Aug. 26 against Huntsville at Cub Stadium, and is scheduled to play Sept. 3 at Lamar Consolidated.

But if the game is televised by the Longhorn Network, the game would likely be moved up two days to Thursday.

West said Brenham would be interested in playing a Thursday game.

Remember recent talk of televising 4a/5a HS games in place of NFL lockout?I'm all in for it,but like to see the schools involved get a share of the revenue for athletic activities which would leesen a school budget.Much like shared$$$$ from attendance @ Jerry world during the title games in Dec.

The Longhorn Network will be a unfair recruiting advantage and therefore should not be allowed to have high school games aired such as Brenham.

The UIL is also under the UT system. I cannot see how the governing body of high school athletics can be affilated with a university and not be an NCAA violation. Awarding state tournaments to UT in track, basketball and baseball is  clearing a recruiting advantage , as is showing high school games on the Longhorn Network. But like everything else high school sports is starting to be more about money than anything else,so the NCAA will just ignore it.
