You bring up Nederland.  They have had great success but did you know that in Neumann's time there, they have the same number of outright district championships as Kountze?

I see your point, but you could say that about a lot of teams.  :)

I agree with the statement that great programs start with the junior high programs, look at Lumberton, that is where Coach Credeur started.  He built a foundation, before building the house.  I personally believe that coach Stewart acted to soon, he should have rode it out.  I'm not dogging him out, however, there is a picture that comes to mind, about the frog hanging out of a stork's mouth about to be swallowed, the frog has his hands around the stork's throat, preventing the stork from swallowing him.  The saying on the picture, " Don't ever give up!". As far as the board is concerned, there needed to be some new blood up there.  I personally do not blame them, sometimes you have to at least try to make something happen.  Kountze needs an attitude that is instilled in their mind, that they can be winners.  If it happened for L- train, it can happen to Kountze.  To blame it on the parents, that ridiculous!  One more thing, and I'm just curious. What football coach after leaving Kountze has gone on to win a state title or that has even went two deep in the playoffs?  I'm not being mean, I wish everybody involved the best in whatever their future holds.  Sincerely Gerald Walden.

Also, after college, Duane played professional football in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Calgary Stampede.

Duane is a football guy.

I know Duane Joubert is a football guy.  I personally think he is a class act!  Does he want to be a head football coach?  I know at one point, he was assisting with football, but decided to stay inside for personal reasons.  As a matter of fact I asked him about coaching football a few years ago.  I think he would be a great coach in any sport.  He reminds me a lot like one of the best, Fred Williams.  Of course, this is my opinion.

As a graduate of Kountze High I am embarrassed at this entire situation. Clearly these things could have been handled more professionally. I will say this. Duane Joubert is a FOOTBALL guy coaching basketball. He's been successful in football so wouldn't it make even more sense to hiring him as AD and allowing him to hire a football coach rather than bringing in someone with NO VISION for the ENTIRE athletic program?

I'm hoping the right candidate is chosen in the best interest of the kids within the district. They deserve someone who's willing to build from the ground up and work with them while they're in middle school and even youth football to a certain extent. That's where it starts. Think about when the basketball team's success took off. It started in 1993, the first year Kountze started Little Dribblers, investing in its youth. Since then, it's been nothing but history and championships for the basketball program.

I was fortunate and athletic enough to play 4 sports while I was in high school and I can say that we had more "athletes" on our football team at the time than we did on our State Semi-Finalist basketball team. Think about that for a second. It didn't hit me until after I graduated that we could have been more successful in football had we put the same amount of work in during the off-season than we did with basketball. Our summers were spent playing basketball, with football not becoming priority until 2-a-days started in August. With that approach, basketball was "second nature" to us because we played it so much.

I am so glad that I'm too far away to even be in the midst of what's going because just reading and hearing about the issues within the School Board and School District is gut wrenching to say that I spent my 13 years of my life there getting an education.

Again, I hope the best candidate is chosen for this position and every possible option is exhausted to make the best hire, for the kids. Not for the parents or school board members satisfaction. Every applicant deserves a "fair" chance.

Im not from Kountze but have follow their prorgam for the past fifteen years. I really like Duane J from his days at Hardin and seems to care about the kids. I did not realize the Supid was Keven Weldon but you cannot go wrong with him. He is a good man and has a good head along with a geuine sp love for the kids. Hope the Lions the best whoever is selected.
