Should Cleveland just merge with Tarkington??

Recommended Posts

wow plz get serious. hardin an h-d.. bad blood.. LOL! they might not be too fond of each other when it comes to sports but i've lived in liberty my whole life and am VERY familiar with both schools and towns.. IMO you're wrong about that one. don't see a point in that merger tho.. that'd be 3 towns in one school.. HARDIN, HULL, & DIASETTA... doubt it..

Well lets just get Dayton and Liberty to merge as well since they're so close. You know that aint gonna happen either.

haha imo the tarkington cleveland merger would make sense for more reasons than just location.. now liberty an dayton.. that will NEVER EVER EVER HAPPEN! BUT... WE'D PROBABLY WIN EVERYTHING!! lol an for those that are about to tell me i'm wrong... SORRY, but this is an opinion which can never be proven true nor false so SAVE ya arguments. No need to get carpeltunel writing a response!!

Quite some time ago, talk was that the State would make small districts consolidate, & of course, Tarkington/Cleveland was discussed as was Tarkington/Hardin. Even though consolidation makes fiscal sense, IMO, this is the first talk I've heard of this now. It would not be popular in either community...loss of identity never is. And most importantly, sports should be the last reason to make this type change...again IMHO.

Terriable idea! If they combined they would have trouble with some of those bigger 4A schools. I mean Cleveland has been pretty good at football, they had a rebuilding year last year with new coach, but Tarkington has been scrapping the bottom of 22-3a for a while. Big school and not enough tallent!

WOS and LCM would be a pretty good idea though! If LCM had a football dynasty like WOS does it would be an even greater idea!

    • Solid week.  Alone in 4th for the playoffs.  If I hadn’t started off down 16-18 picks after 4 weeks I’d be up near the top 🤦🏻‍♂️
    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
