PinoNDN Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 This list is a great indication of what kind of football we have here in SETX. Definitely some of the strong perennial programs in Texas.
BrenhamFan Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 3 from 17-4A! ;DLook who's at #15 (Kingwood Park)..... I wonder what got them in? ::)

raideroldtimer Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Granted Livingston does sometimes shock people, but come on, leaving out Beaumont Central, or even Nederland? Nederland usually makes it inot lists by way of tradition and Central has been a tough team for years.

incognito Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 I know the Cubs are a good team that have consistently made the playoffs the last 10 yrs. and has been to the Semi-Finals twice but how do you put them in the #1 spot when they didn't make it past Bi-District last year?? ???Brenham has their defensive MVP coming back. Both teams are loosing their dist. MVP QB.The only thing I can figure is that Brenham has more all-district players returning! :-\

Also, 2 defensive players on the pre-season all-state team. Defense is the foundation to a great team, and we have arguably the best defense in the state. Kudos to Humble also, as their defense is fierce too. We did lose our QB, but we do have an A&M committ on the o-line, and another Aggie in the backfield. He will take some pressure off the new QB, and he's pretty physical runner, and an excellent blocker. A pretty good WR, that wins just about any jump ball, has to boost a new QB's confidence too. Coach West and his staff are top notch at what they do. Ya, we did get eliminated in the first round last year, but were 23-4 in the last two seasons, with a state championship appearance. Not too many teams can say that. From what the DCTF & FNF said, our depth is what sets us apart from most teams.Brenham is also playing with a HUGE chip on their shoulder after last years early and unexpected exit from the playoffs.
incognito Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 There is no doubt that Brenham is loaded up on defense, with what the Cubs have coming back this yr. there is a good argument that can be made that Brenham has the top defense in the state, you guys have at least 7 all-district defensive players returning. I know Brenham has TBTroy Green (6’1†198) coming back and WR Tre’Mund Moore (6’1†170, Jr.) returning for the offense, so you'll get no argument from me about the Cubs being a great team, with a great coaching staff..... that really wasn't what I was trying to say in my post concerning the TSRN ratings. When I went back and read my post I realized that I had left out what I meant to say, if you will notice I said both teams are loosing their QB well the other team that I failed to mention was Friendswood who is ranked at #10, I just think that they should be ranked higher than a #10 spot. So let me compare the 2 teams with out taking anything away from the accomplishments of Brenham.(1) Both coaches were named coach of the yr. in their respective districts.(2) Both teams lost their starting QB.(3) Brenham is 23-4 the last 2 seasons.(4) Friendswood is 23-6 the last 2 yrs.(5) Brenham in 2008 made it to the Q-Finals, 2009 State lost to Aledo, 2010 Bi-District.(6) Friendswood 2008 Semi-Finals, 2009 Q-Finals, 2010 Semi-Finals.(7) Brenham overall record- 535-363-41 59% win Pct.-939 games played.(8) Friendswood 394-261-14 overall 60% win Pct-669 games played. I realize that Brenham has played over 250 more games than Friendswood, heck Brenham has been playing football since the turn of the century...I said all that to say this....Taking into account Friendswood's record the last 2 or 3 yrs. why didn't TSRN give them a little more love than a #10 spot?? PS the #eight in my key board seems to be messed up it put a cool instead of the # ;D
liltex Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 FW also plays in the tuffest district for years.Every game it's 100% or lose.Dayton has better success w/Brenham that's my 2 cents ;) ;) 8)

Dayton has been to the playoffs for the last 16 years.. Went to state in 08. Went farther than Brenham last year. So it can only be A. a popularity vote? B. What you have returning. or C. Both
