sticky Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Barbers Hill 89, Dayton 23 (girls) Dayton — It’s just a couple of games into the basketball season and the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles look to be in midseason form. Just ask the Dayton Broncos what they think, as they got to see a firsthand look at Barbers Hill Tuesday night as the Lady Eagles coasted to an 89-23 victory. Barbers Hill started hot and remained on fire the entire night with a good inside-outside game. The Lady Broncos started out by grabbing a quick 4-0 lead after a Kaleigh Landry bucket just a minute into the game. The Lady Eagles would then go on an incredible 39-0 run to take a 39-4 lead with 6:20 left in the second quarter. Samantha Hardin started out hot by scoring nine of the first 11 Eagle points. Hardin scored 13 in the first quarter and forced Dayton to spend a time-out after hitting a 3-pointer. After one quarter of play Barbers Hill lead 30-4. Candace Lewis then hit a trey to make it 39-4 before the Lady Broncos would end the run on a Jessica Gonzales bucket. Once the first half was completed the Lady Eagles had a 54-14 lead with Hardin getting 15 of her game-high 17 points in the half. The third quarter saw Barbers Hill outscore Dayton 16-8 to take a 70-22 fourth quarter lead. The Lady Eagles only allowed Dayton a single point in the fourth quarter to bring home the victory . Besides Hardin’s 17 points, Barbers Hill had four other players in double figures. Lewis and Kelly Rivera finished with 16 points apiece while teammates Paris Carter and Shannon Mudd added 11 and 10 points respectively. “We had all but one player score tonight,†BH assistant coach Hannah Wells said. “It was really a good team effort. Rivera and Lewis each played for the first time this year and both had 16 points. “We got to work on some defenses and work on our half court press breaker. Dayton has talent, we were just on tonight.†Dayton (1-4), was lead in scoring by Kristel Hill and Jessica Jackson with four points each.
