Aren't there cities in Texas that are sanctuary cities or do they just ignore federal law so that they can protect refugees? The Bible names cities that were sanctuary towns in those days.
Joshua 20:7Â describes the specific cities chosen as places of refuge for those who unintentionally caused the death of another person. The verse names three cities: Kedesh in Galilee, Shechem in Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (Hebron) in Judah. Also Jesus was a refugee. He left a sought refuge in Bethlehem to avoid death
Â
The cities of refuge were intended to protect the slayer from the "avenger of blood". The slayer would remain in the city until the death of the high priest who was in office at the time of the accident. After that, the slayer could return home.Â
The cities of refuge were set apart for all the Israelites and the foreigners living among them.Â
