so the rumored possibility is going to be the reality.  Hopefully it will work out in the best possible way for the Tigers!
It will work out fine.  They will have a coach (in actuality) who knows the program well and has been very instrumental in their recent successes.  Tigersvoice, its your responsibility to make sure those coaches are not leaning to the left. ::)

A football coach with no head bb coaching experience for an elite program?   ???
This is most likely a one year interim basis. Kyle Mackey is a quality coach, both in football and basketball. Kyle Mackey, Ira Brooks and James Collins will do a great job as a staff.

Most folks do not know, Coach Mackey's first love is basketball and that's how he got to college, via a basketball scholarship. Just so happened that he could play football very well, enough to play quarterback in the NFL.

Wow!  Sounds like a head football coach / AD trying to kill a successful basketball program.
Mackey may be a great basketball coach, but having a varsity football coordinator coach basketball is a bad idea.  If the football team make any kind is playoff run the basketball program will be on the back burner.  Plus basketball practice starts before the end of football.  Where will his commitment be?  Definitely not fair to the basketball program.

Coach Brooks and Coach Collins will take care of business until football is over. This will be most likely a joint effort in regards of the coaching.

Also, about 85% of the varsity basketball team plays varsity football. So, basketball may not start until football is over. ;)

I called it again, give title to someone else, and let ira coach. Silsbee now has to hope he can pass a test as soon as possible. A test he had failed to pass for ( I have no idea ) more than the time aloud at a school for sure.  I have seen shady things, but this is one is rt there up with any other.

Ira just got his degree this past December. Now he has to work on his certification. Not sure what you are speaking of in regards to his taking a test and having more time than allowed.

Ira Brooks is very well respected in coaching circles in southeast texas and even more so in the entire state of texas.  silsbee will be fine here and this is not a bad move at all.  i would tread lightly for those of you who are criticizing brooks and or silsbee.  their track record proves they know what they are doing over there in silsbee.

Head coach by committee? Sounds like a great idea. Not. What if they have a great year with Mackey as coach then he won't want to turn it over to Brooks?
Hmmmm. A 3a boys sub-varsity basketball coach very well respected across the entire state of Texas. I went to college with a local 4a freshman boys coach and he's not gotten his "state-wide repect" badge yet he is certified & has been teaching and coaching for 11 years. I suspect foul play!

There are a number of freshmen and jv coaches who are competent.  You are going to find that nearly every successful head coach began his career as one of the two.

    • It’s a fact.  Are you not bothered with those?  Big girl also has an issue with facts.  Must be a liberal thing!
    • That’s kinda over-simplifying matters.    Are you talking about local politics or the platforms of the DNC/RNC? They’re two completely different scenarios.    To be frank, a politician couldn’t get elected in Hardin County as a Republican… until 2010-2011 when the locals all switched to the R Party.    I think that the truest example of a Democrat is the late George Wallace, Governor of Alabama. He ran in 1958 against a staunch segregationist and lost big time. Both Dems, btw. He came back in 1962 as a hardcore opponent of integration and won handily, becoming the racist spokesperson for a South that wanted to remain segregated. By 1982 he won his last term as Governor of alabama, still as a democrat, but carrying over 90% of the black vote.    Who switched? Was it the party? The politicians? The people? All of the above, in all different directions and over a period of about 60 years.   The problem with arguments about switching is that there are no constants.  We all know that guy…. southern accent, white-headed flat top haircut, short sleeve western shirt with those old wrangler double-knit pants. He probably held public office all over the south, and he had some really crazy ideas about race…. Might not have been in the Klan, but knew a bunch of people who were or had been. And he voted 100% Democrat.     We can all say “yeah, and he became a Republican after the civil rights act was passed!” And we’d be wrong.  The truth is that those old ideals and ways of thinking pretty much died off.    The truth of the matter is that the civil rights act passed the senate with a 71-29 vote majority.  But it’s interesting to point out that the 71 “yes” votes were actually 27 Republicans and 44 Democrats voting “for” the civil rights act, with 6 Republicans and 21 Democrats voting against the Civil Rights Act.  So which party was in favor and which one opposed?   And now 60 years later, with an ideological split in America, both sides are trying to claim moral superiority and cast blame over history that, to be frank, we don’t understand.    But to be honest, the Democrat party of 2024 is not what it was… and neither is the Republican. Just because things are so black-and -white today doesn’t mean that they always have been.
    • We wont win the series, but it would be nice to get a win today before heading to Baltimore.
    • Like who?  Do you have any names of actual applicants? Asking because I have not seen a list of applicants.
