IMO Silsbee changed their mind on hiring Mackay because they caught so much heat over it.

A week ago Sigler was left out and had no chance, he got hired because Silsbee had to hire a proven coach or the community would have gone ape stuff!!!!!

Sorta true.

First of all, they wouldn't be "hiring" Mackey (he already works for the district ;)), just appointing him as interim head coach. Second, the decision was delayed because of what you stated, the board (and folks in the community) wanted a head basketball coach, not interim. The reason Sigler was at first a no go was because he did not want to have to coach football and that was how the position was opened. The board had that responsibility dropped, which then put him (and others) into play.
