Saw a clip on the new Silsbee QB on www.kfdm.com. He seems to have a strong arm. How does his accuracy look? He looks to be around the same build and size as Jeremy Johnson.

i can answer that.  Yes he has a very good strong arm.  He is very accurate when dropping back or when he on the run and has time to set.  He still needs a little more reps throwing across his body or in stride.  Still needs some work on timing but that will come and is light years ahead of where he could be at this point with the time he has in.  His play is similar to JJ but he is not as quick and doesnt play with the confidence JJ did!  Yet!!

I believe Patrick Reed will be another good one for the Tigers. He has the potential to be JJ good. At this point he is a little bit thicker version of JJ, just not as fast, but still has the quickness and athleticism. Reed has a very strong arm for a sophomore and runs the ball with toughness. At '6"2 180lb he has very good size and I still think he will grow some more. He needs to work on his accuracy but that will come with the experience and reps. The good thing about being a sophomore QB this year is that he has an experienced and talented O-line to work behind. That line will help smooth things in the early part of the season until Patrick and his backfield mate(Floyd Spearman, who is also a soph.) can get used to the varsity speed of the game.

In the long run, a soph. QB has always worked out for the Tigers and I see this one being as good as all the others, including JJ.

Spearman is '6"1 190lb. Easily the biggest back with very good speed that Silsbee has had in quite some time. And he is only a sophomore. ;)

A quote from WOS head coach Cornel Thompson, "Spearman looks like a young AP (Adrian Peterson) when he was at Palestine".

I'm saying it right now. Silsbee will be the top team in there district. With a QB and and running back that big and a line thats good they will definitely make some noise. I think they it will come out on top. Silsbee on top with WOS and BC tied for second.

6"1 180lb tailback as a sophmore is awesome. They need to get him the ball at least 15 times per game behind that line. I know Silsbee runs the spread offense, but with a line that big, why not throw fullback in the back field and run a little smash mouth ball?

Utfan, I was told by a classmate of mine that this could be the BEST overall Silsbee group (sophomore class) that they have had in the last 10 years. With the mix of great seniors and experienced juniors, the could suprise some people. I look for them to have a winning record and go to the 3rd round of the playoffs.

I'll go a much bigger step further. This sophomore group can potentially be the best athletic class in Silsbee since the 1972 class. This soph. class has won at each level they have played in so far and in every sport.

The '72 class is the best ever to come through Silsbee and their accomplishments show it. Their senior year they were district champs in football (advanced to Quarterfinals, todays regional finals) were district champs in basketball (advanced to state tourney, losing to eventual state champ Odessa Ector in semis), was runner up in baseball (back then only the district champ advanced to playoffs) and was district champ in track (sent two to state meet). Two of the football players (Hunter and Skinner) were all state and went on to be All Americans in college and played in the NFL, with Hunter being named All Pro. David Brown made all state in basketball and was all conference in college, playing a couple of years in the NBA.

As for this year, it starts with at least 8-10 on the varsity football team with 5-6 starting. ;)

My class of 1998 was good one as well with Brandi Mccain, Thad Holden, Lewis Airline, Detrice Spearman, and Shondala Lockett. Dont think we had too much baseball or track talent that year.
