king Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 Im a fan of this sport. I watch friday night fights. There just not many good fighters to watch anymore. :(
mat Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 I'm a MMA fan but according to the PPV totals and the fight purses boxing must not be dead.
Guest baseball25 Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 boxing isn't dead watch how many ppv buys ortiz vs mayweather will be and marquez vs pacman, that will show you its not dead both of those fights will be over a million ppv buys!!!!
king Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 Mayweather and pacman will squash there opponents like a bug. Would not be worth my money. What makes me sad is that the heavyweights cant more for nothing there like turtles.
Guest baseball25 Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 lol well good don't watch the fights but don't say boxing is dead when both of those fights will be over a million ppv buys!!! Heavyweight boxing is dead because you have more people getting involve in MMA and etc!!! If mayweather vs pacman ever materializes and then you have a big time UFC ppv event on the same night, I promise you mayweather vs pacman will out due the UFC ppv big time!!!! middleweight, super middleweight, Light heavyweight, junior middleweight, welterweight and junior welterweight all have some pretty good fighters!!!
king Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 Yes Mayweather and Pacman will outdue ufc ratings. There really not many household names anymore.I love boxing watch it almost every friday night. This is what i miss mostly about Boxing...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N_vvuppyTs
mat Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 You may have to give the UFC a try since they just signed a deal with FOX
Guest baseball25 Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 i love UFC and never miss a pview or any fights, but I will never put UFC over a good boxing match!!!
marvin Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 There is no doubt that interest in boxing has fallen in the USA than previous decades. However, to say that the sport is dead is a common myth among those who are uninformed. Every time a Klitschko fights in Germany, they sell out huge soccer arenas. Even in the USA, where the sport is supposedly "dead" the fans flock in to see Pacquiao. At the young age of 21 Saul Alvarez packs the house in Mexico, and will continue to do so for many years to come. Juan Manuel Marquez also packs the house among the hispanic populations. Miguel Cotto draws huge numbers in New York and in Puerto Rico. Amir Khan is also a huge attraction in the UK and is starting to become popular in the USA.For boxing fans, 2011 has been a great year providing action packed fights such as Victor Ortiz shocking the boxing world in a war with Andre Berto, Brandon Rios also becoming a big draw here in the states with his action packed fights in two slug fests this year. Erik Morales making an outstanding and shocking comeback in his brave showing in his close loss vs Marcos Maidana. These are just a few examples as I don't have time to recap all of the great moments of 2011 so far. Mayweather-Ortiz as well as a couple of the undercard fights have great potential as does the Pacquiao-Marquez ppv and Cotto-Margarito ppv later this year. There have been many great free cards on showtime and HBO as well this year. It was also a great season of espn2 Friday night fights this year with many great fights and huge upsets. Not bad for a "dead" sport :o
Guest baseball25 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 marvin don't forget about dawson vs my boy BHOp, thats a interesting fight!!!!
marvin Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Yes you are right, Bhop being World class at the age of 46 is very impressive. But I'm not too interested in this one because Hopkins seemed to avoid fighting Dawson until dawson lost a fight and seemed vulnerable so now Hopkins wants to fight. And like any Hopkins fight, this may not be a fan friendly fight especially when you consider the fact that Dawson likes to move and counter. It's definitely an interesting fight though and I can see either guy winning, just not as excited because there may not be much action. I hope they have a good undercard especially since this one is a PPV
Guest baseball25 Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Undercard is very good!! Bhop said he didnt want to fight dawson bec he wasnt known and doesnt sell tickets that well!!! Now hopkins is more popular than ever good undercard and dawson has a trainer in steward that everyone respects, 3 yrs ago this fight wouldnt have sold.tickets now it will sell tickets
