17-4A Predictions in Week 0

Huntsville @ Brenham- I'll go with my Cubs in this one.  We won last year 28-2, but from what I hear, Huntsville will be much improved.  They dominated their scrimmage against Waller, and came back to beat Conroe 27-14 in the live portion last week.  They return 9 starters on offense, including their QB & HB.  Brenham's defense will be potent, but will the offense be able to put up enough points to get the win?  I say, 24-10 Cubs.

Stratford vs Houston Memorial- WOSgrad and I, will be starting the season out by watching this one on Thursday.  These 2 teams know each other well, and who better to open the season with, than your rival?  The Spartans took a beating last year, from the Mustangs, but they have added a 6'4" QB (3 star recruit by scout), and have put together a very impressive secondary on defense.  I'm gonna take the Mustangs in this one, 34-24.

Crosby @ Montgomery- They've played 3 times in the last 2 years, with Montgomery winning 2 out of the 3 games.  The Cougars don't have Merka any more, but the Bears are without Bolfing & Dobbins.  House saw alot of time with a few injuries that Dobbins picked up last year, and blowout wins for Montgomery.  I'll take the Bears and their impressive receiving duo, 31-17.

Oak Ridge @ Magnolia West- The Mustangs return a lot, including the Houston area's #2 rusher in total yards.  They beat Oak Ridge last year, and they should be even better this year.  Add in a head hunting safety, and it's not looking good for the War Eagles.  I'll take the Mustangs, 28-17.

El Campo @ Waller- Waller will have their hands full with the Ricebirds.  El Campo's enrollment is close to 3A, but they are always a very talented team.  They beat the Bulldogs last year, and will likely do it again this year.  I'll take the Ricebirds, 31-14.

Magnolia @ Galena Park- Magnolia will struggle this year.  The Yellow Jackets have the athletes to give the Bulldogs fits.  I'll take GP, 35-21.

Northbrook- Has a Bye.

Pasadena @ Spring Woods- The Tigers had a tough time with the Eagles last year, and while it should be easier this time around, with the team being more experienced, I still don' see them winning.  I'll take the Eagles, 31-14.

Your wrong Mr. Green Shoes Crosby beat Montgomery 2yrs ago in the second-round playoff game . It was a double header with Dayton spanking your buddies Waller in the other game .

I stand corrected, but I still don't see them beating Montgomery this year.  As far as Waller goes, that's the one team in 17-4A, that I'm always against!  ;)
