This rivalry game that should be good.  Ya, I know, Memorial has dominated the rivalry lately, but the new 3 star transfer the Spartans have at QB, could make this interesting. He's 6'4", and I've heard he's legit. Also the Spartan secondary has some talent as well. (D1 CB & D1 S) Stopping Boomer White, and the Mustang's potent running game will be the key in this one.  Sparty must win in the trenches and take care of the football, cuz the Mustangs ground and pound offense and stellar defense, will control the clock.  Go 17-4A, pull off the upset!

Kick off @ 7:00

Let the HS football season begin!

What's the over/under on how many gun shots will be fired after?  There is history in this one!

I'm sure their will be a lot of trash talking, and hard hits in this one.  Especially, considering the recent pranks between the 2 schools.  What a way to start the season!

It is going to be a good look at one of the teams that is supposed to be standing in between PA Memorial and a potential state championship.

Hey, they may face the Dark Side!!

Halftime

Memorial 7
Stratford 0

Memorial has just played keep away.  Stratford went to punt, but it was snapped over the punters head.  Memorial's first play after that was a run up the middle for a 20+ yard TD.  Good job by the HB, to keep his legs moving.  Sloppy arm tackling by the Spartans the whole first half.  Stratford keeps going to the air, and it hasn't worked...

Wow, there has been a lot of talk of stratford's QB.does their offense look out of sync?
Ya, it does.  Balls kept getting batted down at the line. (shouldnt happen that much with a 6'4" QB) They've run a lot in the 2nd half.

7-0 Memorial

I wasn't really impressed with either QB although the Memorial QB did make some good decisions in the running game.  I was very impressed with Boomer White, he will be tough to bring down.

Stratford's 2 star CB/S, Kelvin Rainey, was injured in the 2nd quarter while making a tackle.  He stayed out the rest of the game, so I'm not sure how serious it is.  It looked like it was his right knee or ankle, but he did come off the field on his own. (even though the trainer's did run out on the field for a minute)  I hope it's not too bad, and he is back soon.  You hate to see anybody get hurt, but it's really bad when it's in the first game of the season.

So they only have White and a good defense?
The QB is a good runner and makes good decisions on when to keep the ball, but he is not accurate at all in the passing game.  The fact that he does have a touchdown pass to his credit is only sue to the fact that his receiver had to make a circus catch.

Stratford must still have a  good defense, bending a little but staying close.Should be a tuff game @ Brenham this yr. esp. if the Spartans go to the no huddle/quick snap offense.Just my take against a very good Cub defense 8)
