With all do respect to a very good PAM team that should win that district and compete well in the playoffs, Dayton should be the top team in this poll especially if they beat what looks to be a pretty good Angleton team this week. 1a and 1b I could live with. Livingston will be good, but really who have they beaten going back to last season for them to rank above WB, Dayton and Coldspring, who all have prooven themselves week in and week out over the past couple of seasons.

I understand what you are saying, so don't take what I am about to say the wrong way.  But this is a poll ranking the teams on projected performance this year....it is not a lifetime achievement poll.

The poll goes from week to week THIS year. The tough part was starting the pre-season polls. If your school is ranked lower then you would like or not on there at all, then continue to win and you will move up. BadNDN, I disagree. PAM should be #1 until they prove otherwise. That's what is nice about the poll is there are numerous people that vote evry week from all over SETX. It appears the majority voted for PAM as #1. I will say this, I agree that Livingston has gotten alot of hype this year, but if they fall flat on thier face then they will be bumped down. Give it time, and the polls will work themselves out.

Fair question.  Unfortunately to answer it would take 10 different posts as we do not place a set criteria that the pollsters must use in making their rankings.  Thus, it is left up to each pollster on how much weight he gives a win (or loss for that matter) in deciding if or where a team should wind up in his rankings.

Speaking as one of the pollsters, yeah I do look at the losing opponent when giving weight to a win and how far, if at all, I will advance a team in my rankings.  For example, I included Vidor in my top 15 this week because of the quality of opponent (Texas High) that they defeated last week. 

As for the example that I think that you are speaking of, no, the Nederland win over West Orange-Stark did not vault Nederland ahead on PN-G in my rankings as in the preseason poll I had Nederland ranked #6, WO-S ranked #7 and PN-G ranked #8.  As none of my top five from the preseason rankings lost my 1-6 stayed the same meaning that Nederland was still at #6.  The team that benefited from Nederland's win, in my rankings anyway, was PN-G who I moved up to the #7 spot by virtue of WO-S losing.

Here it comes-I'm satisfied where we're at based on projected ratings?Dayton's longtime HC ret/new HC-lost a big part of the Defense-Questionable if and when Delasbour 19-4a off mvp will be able to return to form.I will say I'm pleasantly surprized every year overcoming injuries and competing and how the underclassmen have stepped up.Liv #2 on projected thoughts?Hope they can finally prove after a 3rd match-up they can beat Lumberton :D

I prefer to deal in the actual rather than the theoretical. And while I know that Vidor defeating Bridge City has already moved in the "actual" book for you, it takes a scoreboard for me to make that move.

The 10 voters submit their own top 15.  The team gets 15 points for 1st place votes, 14 for 2nd..........2 for 14th and, 1 point for 15th.  All of the points are added up and the teams are ranked by the amount of total points they have.

Ex.    Memorial had 9-1st place votes and one 2nd place vote for a total of 149 points out of the max 150.
